Post subject:  Orientation on value

Hi all

I don't know if this post fits in this thread or not. If not, I apologise

I am starting a collection of LOTR, so I will start getting the most common armies.

I saw in several places lots of plastic armies at a very low price, but with missing/broken components.

I guess that I could get several armies by buying a few of these lots.

But I was also wondering if it is worth to try to buy complete sets already painted. I saw several of them painted at a very low quality. If I buy something painted, I want something decent. Maybe not pro-quality, but something better than what I can do in an afternoon.

How much do you think that a complete set of a standard army should be worth?

Let's say, an unpainted and a painted set of 12 Warriors of Minas Tirith?

Cheers

When I was looking at selling painted minis, I was told by the Sentry Box, N America's largest game store to sell them at a 20% markup for my talents. Hope this helps!

I'd do a set of 24 for a boxed set of Warriors of Dale or something equivalent. See my posts for painted examples. I think there are a few decent shots of minis in amongst the terrain.

Dang a 20% markup sounds like a discount. How long would it take you to paint 24 models?

Depends how motivated I am. ;-) If they are models I've done before and have a paint scheme for, I can crank 'em out pretty fast. WoMT take a surprisingly long time to do, as I have to line in the armour for contrast. A month, max; 2 weeks, min.

Lately I've been in an Egyptian kick, so some nice Reaper Nefsokar models would certainly kick things into high gear!
