Hey folks, been playing the game for a while. Got my first tournament coming up in a few months and have really been enjoying playing Mirkwood elves recently. Want to run a cavelry heavy list if I can. Have Thranduil and Legolas on horseback and love the models. How does this list look? Have used it a couple of times and been ok so far.

Thranduil, Elk, Heavy Armour, Crown, Second Sword
5 Mirkwood Cavalry, Sheild
4 Mirkwood Elves, Glaive and Bow
7 Mirkwood Elves Sheild

Legolas, Horse
5 Mirkwood Cavalry, Sheild, Banner
3 Mirkwood Rangers

Any thoughts appreciated

I've got some reservations about running a cavalry heavy list with anything that isn't Rohan. The horselords only tend to get anywhere when they've got a high might count and low hero to warrior ratio. That said, I think this is probably as good of a list as you could get with a cavalry heavy build. You've got enough footmen to serve both as arrow catchers on the way in and a front line holders. You have a little shooting, which is always good. And you've got your mounted heroes with a manageable number of cavalry to work with in terms of heroic moves. I also think the banner is a good idea since you need to make sure your heroes are getting rerolls as well.

On the whole, I think it's pretty solid for what you want to do.

Yes my usual army is Rohan which is probably why I try to squeeze as much cavelry in there as possible!

I've played the list a few times (angmar, khazad and fellowship) and it works pretty well. Obviously nature's wrath/bruinin is a problem but I think with a couple of small tweaks could be ok.

Next game I'm going to drop one knight and 1 ranger to get 3 more elves for a bit more of a solid line to get into the action.
