So I've finally decided to try and crunch one of my favorite armies into a competitve list, and it's somewhat difficult. So I wanted to reach out to everyone, as most lists I make look off to me. I'll put a rough draft I am constantly changing still.

Imrahil (horse, lance)
- 4 x Men at arms (pike)
- 2 x Army of the dead (shield)
- 2 x Knight of Dol Amroth ( ft)

Forlong (horse)
- 4 x Men at arms (pike)
- 2 x Army of the dead (shield)
- 2 x knight of Dol Amroth ( ft)

My brain tells me to add ranged, but I find Black root vale a poor choice. Should I ditch the army of the dead in favor of more troops, maybe allies would be the way to go. Anyhow thanks all for taking a look, Any and all comments welcome.

This is for 400pts correct?

If so you need to add a carefull plan here.

Imrahil its a good model indeed not only hes a good fighter, but also a good banner to DA.
Thing is, hes like more than 1/3 of your army, other armies who rellie on cav or shooting gonna make a mess up with you. Im not sure how effective this can turn out at this point cost, cause Imrahil its like Eomer or above, hes one of the big heroes that should be taken at least minimum 500pts while recommended around 750.

Other armies like laketown and such do need to include bard cause the majority of the army as well as most of their heroes are more or so goblin warrior rank, they aren´t elite army, so an heroe that affect their fighting prowess its much more important. things like fiefdoms they wont need as much because the´re elite already so you need to invest on army tactic rather than trusting all on one heroe.

This is an exception if you take an all out heroe army...

Anyway this is what I would give a try.

Warband 1
Forlong the Fat
4 Knights of DA
7 Man at arms with pike
1 Knight with Banner
193

Warband 2
Captain of Dol Amroth with armoured horse and lance
3 Knights of DA
3 Man at arms with pike
4 blackroot vale archers
1 Knight with Banner
204

Total: 397pts
models: 26

Or

Warband 1
Forlong the Fat on horse
4 Knights of DA
4 axeman of lossarnarch
4 blackroot vale archers
142

Warband 2
Angbor the fearless
6 Clansmans of Lamedon
6 Axeman of lossarnarch
157

Warband 3
Duinhir
4 blackroot vale archers
97

total: 396pts
models: 31
might: 7

Or (for fun)

Warband 1
Prince Imrahil on armoured horse with lance
2 Knights of DA with armoured horse and lance

Warband 2
Captain of Dol Amroth on armoured horse with lance
2 Knights of DA with armoured horse and lance

Warband 3
Captain of Dol Amroth on armoured horse with lance
1 Knight of DA with armoured horse and lance

total: 400pts (or replace the 5 knights and add another Captain with horse and lance, also at total 400pts.

OR again for fun:

Warband 1
Imrahil on armoured horse with lance
10 Knights of DA on horse with lance
2 Knights of DA on horse( 1 with warhorn)

total: 401pts

Hey thanks for the post, it's actually geared towards 650, I just somewhat stumped myself into moving the list forward without, just pushing redundancy.

I have often played Fiefdoms for the last two years. For fun, but also in tournaments.

My opinion:

- Army Of The Dead is too expensive for what it does. Unless your models collection forces you to play them, don't bother.

- Blackroot Vale Archers are not the best shooting. But it's better than no shooting at all. At least they hit on 3+. Besides, they are really good vs monsters, which (against some armies) can be really big.

- My (competitive) heroes are Forlong (ST5), Duinhir (Fight 5), and either Dol Amroth Captain or Imrahil. Depends on the points. At 650 pts you are probably not including Imrahil.

- I like some cavalry: mounted Captain + 3 or 4 Swan Knights should do the trick. Charge them in, call heroic combat, trample the original target, charge into more enemies ...

- I fill the army (at this point only Forlong's warband) with Axemen and foot Knights. Both a little too expensive, but Fight 4 everywhere is a good thing. Probably even better to mix the Archers and the Axemen, which I don't do for flavour reasons, but would be perfectly fine when playing 'to win'.
