Im talking about the new one from the BOFA supplement. Hes a whopping amount of points. He costs almost as much as base Boromir Captain of Gondor with his horse and armor which are both mandatory. He has a 12" +1 fight value to lake town troops and his standfast has a 12" range. Thats all well and good but the fact of the matter is he will be the only hero your enemy needs to concentrate on and you need to spam laketown troops. This means any wraith, wizard, monsters, flying creatures etc they have will target him. I like the idea, but Im not sold. Regardless I love the model and will likely get it but its a tough sell.....anyone see it actually played? |

Yes he is well worth it! For his point costs you also recieve a 12" banner this really buffs the army and I did a 500 points match with (lake-town militia and lake-town warriors) and because of Bard the Lake-Town militia become far more superior and I had a crushing victory. I aso used him in a "battle for Dale" with gundabad orcs + azog and some trolls vs mirkwood elves and lake-Town and he proved himself to be the man of the match for the militia (most of them where actualy still standing!) So for me it's definetly a yes. |

He is a fantastic profile. Is he a target? Indeedhe is. Lake town should only be an allied contingent in your force, not the center piece, because, as mentioned, once Bard goes down then lake town will follow. |

Sounds like when you ally him with Mirkwood he is a really amazing piece. The heroes from mirkwood are so good they would add more targets in for your enemy's casters. Reading everyone's reviews I want to try him out! |

He needs his great bow. Doesn't make any sense for Bard the BOWMAN to not have a bow. He looks like a pretty good profile, but I kinda like his first super Archer profile better. |

I too prefer his bowman profile, but Girion's heir makes for a better leader. |

Well I think hes worth his points... He aint like a steal deal like Thranduil king of the woodland realm, but he does have pretty strong points. - his profile its actually decent - normal named rohan heroe (like eomer stat line) but with courage 6 to compensate the lack of armour. - his big benefit its the: - banner effect 12", that is huge, very few models in this game can be a banner of that wide area. - all models around 12" from laketown militia gain +1 fight value, its a nice boost rending captains to standart fight 4 and infantry to regular fight 3 for 5pts per model around, thats is cheaper than an orc point cost with better courage. Like some previous comments he aint ment to be the only " big heroe" around here. He can manage on his own just fine but he wont last long if hes targetted. If you add a powerfull heroe with its force combined with this guy then things might work quite well... - if I had to choose bettewn defending a spot with laketown militia with shields and bard around or elves with shields and thranduil... I would survive more with laketown cause of the banner effect not to mention having twice the numbers. Attricion generally win this game (in most cases) check the goblins :P If you play for the cheese *laketown with axes cough cough* |

Bard gets better in bigger point games when his special rules can affect more people. |
