Hi, Considering 2 different Wood elves lists - I'm going up against Isengard led by Saruman and that pesky Grima. So I've come up with two different lists, but are having problems deciding which to choose - help...!?? ARMY1 Warband 1 12/12 Thranduil with Armour; 8 Wood Elf Warrior with Throwing daggers; Wood Elf spear; 4 Wood Elf Warrior with Throwing daggers; Elven blade; ---- Warband 2 6/12 Haldir with Armour; Elf bow; 6 Wood Elf Warrior with Elf bow; Wood Elf spear; ---- Warband 3 10/12 Rúmil 3 Galadhrim Warrior with Elf bow; Spear; 6 Galadhrim Warrior with Elven blade; Shield; 1 Wood Elf Sentinel ---- Warband 4 0/12 Galadhrim Stormcaller ARMY2 Warband 1 12/12 Thranduil with Armour; 8 Wood Elf Warrior with Throwing daggers; Wood Elf spear; 4 Wood Elf Warrior with Throwing daggers; Elven blade; ---- Warband 2 11/12 Haldir with Armour; Elf bow; 4 Wood Elf Warrior with Throwing daggers; Elven blade; 7 Mirkwood Guard with Elf bow; Wood Elf spear; ---- Warband 3 10/12 Rúmil 3 Galadhrim Warrior with Elf bow; Spear; 6 Galadhrim Warrior with Elven blade; Shield; 1 Wood Elf Sentinel ---- Any and all advice is much appriciated! Cheers! |

I would go for the second army, only because it has more troop therefore a higher breaking point Although id try to find a way to put storm caller ....Magic always changes the out come of a battle hope you found this helpful GONDOR'S HEIR |

Then I would need to drop a lot of the equipment and use regular elves instead of Mirkwood guards. Warband 1 12/12 Thranduil with Armour; 8 Wood Elf Warrior with Wood Elf spear; 4 Wood Elf Warrior with Throwing daggers; ---- Warband 2 10/12 Haldir with Armour; Elf bow; 4 Wood Elf Warrior with Throwing daggers; 6 Wood Elf Warrior with Elf bow; ---- Warband 3 10/12 Rúmil 3 Galadhrim Warrior with Elf bow; 6 Galadhrim Warrior with Elven blade; Shield; 1 Wood Elf Sentinel ---- Warband 4 0/12 Galadhrim Stormcaller I dont know if the stormcaller is worth all the sacrifices? |

stormcaller has only one use: calling Nature Wrath. This spell, cast at the right time, could turn the flow of the game |

Perhaps it is best to drop Haldir? Warband 1 12/12 Thranduil with Armour; 4 Wood Elf Warrior with Throwing daggers; Elven blade; 8 Mirkwood Guard with Elf bow; Wood Elf spear; ---- Warband 2 12/12 Rúmil with Elven cloak; 4 Wood Elf Warrior with Throwing daggers; Elven blade; 8 Wood Elf Warrior with Throwing daggers; Wood Elf spear; ---- Warband 3 10/12 Galadhrim Stormcaller 3 Galadhrim Warrior with Elf bow; Spear; 6 Galadhrim Warrior with Elven blade; Shield; 1 Wood Elf Sentinel ---- |

If your fighting against Sarumon, some sort of Magic might be useful. But with him and throwing spells at your troops, and Grima tying up people with his annoying abilities, your gonna need some extra troops to take it to those higher strength and defense uruks that I am sure your opponent is using. Go with the second and see if you can't take out Sarumon with your archers. 9 shots(I count that right?) plus Halidir should give you a good advantage in that area. |

I got screwed, the board was on the small side, so I got bogged down to quickly. Got the Stormcallers will sapped by a wright and Thranduil and Rumil got transfixed... Some after game thoughts, should I equip all the models with spear/blades - or is it better to save these points and bring more stands, same goes for Bow/spear combos... And mirkwood guard. I could quickly save lot of points that could be converted into more elves? And transfix, any ideas how to counter that? |

I would remove the mirkwood guard, the 2+ shoot value isnt all that useful. Max out on your bows, then hang back and try to whittle down the enemy/ saruman with bowfire. You can also use the sentinel to move Grima away from your heroes as he can be effected by magic. I wouldn't bother with the elven blades, against uruk warriors you'll be winning on a tied roll anyway. Lose those to free up more points. Although that does bring you to a common elf problem. Warbands maxed out with enough points for troops but no hero to lead them. Maybe ally in some cheap laketown to further boost numbers? I know a certain councillor who is very cheap and will help alleviate the Grima problem haha. |

Thanks! Still that just givs me some 20 odd pts with wich to manouver. I also had 2 missed attempts at natures wrath, both which would have knocked some 80% of his force off their feet... That would have helped I think. |

It was a nice learning experience, some minor tweaks in the set up, and some better luck with some crucial dicerolls, and it would have been a close race to the finish! |
