resently made a 750 army that has 84 goblins (8 warbands) with 1 moria shaman, 1 black shield cap and 7 moria captains. 2 warbands are bows so i was wonderin if this mass goblin army would be any good  . btw 1 capain is on his own with a shield

Sometimes, a horde is great (when taking objectives for example), but it is quite a disadvantage in scenarios like Lords of Battle, where your opponent gets a point every time one of your models is killed.

For Moria, I prefer to get good numbers, but take some heavy hitters and specialists as well - and with the possibility to take some great semi-elite troops, big monsters and some other interesting beasts like bats, there is generally more to include than fits in any army! At 750pts, there is ample room to include a troll or two, which are rather useful for throwing enemies around for example.

In the future, it could be useful to type the lists as:
"Warband 1:
-Goblin captain, shield
-12 Goblin warriors (6 with shield, 6 with spear)

Warband 2:
[.....]"
It gives a better overview, and sometimes it's quite useful to know what hero leads which troops.

Also, NarsilReforged, there hasn't been a model limit since the LoMe days... =)

There's not a limit set beyond the points you have to spend.

It could do well. Personally I'd rather have a 2nd Shaman than the extra captain. It will really depend on who you are facing. I recently played a 750 pts match with Moria where the mass of Goblins killed little but paved the way for my Cave Troll and the watcher to demolish everything.

Yeah I'd be taking a couple of trolls as well. Use the hoard to pin you foe down and then bowl them over with your trolls.

Variety does give a LOT of tactical flexibility and with Moria forces the points for many things are relatively cheap so you can fit in a few options. But obviously don't go overboard or you'll loose the horde advantages quick (which is fine IF that is your design).

A couple Cave Trolls really can give some punch and also give your opponent something 'big' to focus attention on. Efforts to bring down the Trolls will really impact what they can do early to your main force, perhaps allowing you to better swarm your opponent.

Giant Spiders and Giant Bats are each fast moving and flexible. They are 'soft' (bats being a little more survivable and mobile) but for flanking, threatening rear-line units or rushing objectives they are each good. And the special rules for the Bat Swarms also makes them very helpful as support.

I really enjoy playing against Moria swarms and find my hardest games are the ones where there really are a LOT of basic Goblin warriors, a decent spread of cheap Heroes and a couple 'extras'.
