Kinda hoping troll with his shield eould stay with it as long as poss whilst wargs and marauders which move 8" draw most the attention??

Have you had bad experience with the ballista?

It's too vulnerable. You've got a maneuverable army with wargs and maruders which want be exploiting that and engaging on their terms.

However it's also very low on numbers and a single model, no matter how big or powerful, won't be able to protect it. Only one(might be two not sure) model needs to be tied up from the crew and it won't be able to fire. Which with archery and how you're likely to be outnumbered won't be too difficult.

Even if siege machines are left to their own devices it's very unlikely they'll make their points back. I'd love to include dwarf ballista's in my dwarf army yet theory hammer says they'll never make their points back :(. This is all speculation though, I've never had the joy to play with siege engines :(.

Well I think most people agree that feral Uruk-hai are one of the best units in the game if you ask tournament players on here.
However it looks like you've a scouty theme going on and it would kinda detract from the theme. You've reached an awkward place you've got 72 points to use but only 5 spaces left in your warbands. You could get 4 beserkers and a feral Uruk-hai. However I've not even got the fallen realms book
So you're better of waiting for someone more experienced to answer :)

Quick thought, drop the throwing spears(hitting on 6's :( ) and 2 warg riders, gives you 112 points to play with, enough to buy Vrasku and another 5 or so maruders, split up the warbands though so Vrasku's not a loner.

I don't think maruders are great though, extra movement's handy but it's quite difficult to exploit, after that you're paying two points for a point of fight over a WOMT and not having any spear support.

For 500pts its 2 few uruks you have..

for 300pts I had something like

Lurtz
3 scout uruks with shield
5 bow (not that good there just good but keep em fluffy)
2 berserks

Ugluk
3 h.armour uruks with shield
3 berserkers

was something like that

if you wanted for 500pts I wouldnt take troll neither ballista 2 many points...

Lurtz warband replace lurtz for Mauhur, bows for more shield guys add 2 ferals keep the same
Same to ugluk warband add 2 ferals and pikes (4x) , you can replace ugluk for shaman to beef up your main spank melee warband
Add Vrasku as a 3rd warband and like 6 crossbows and 2 ferals just in case

That should be something around 500, plenty might, alot more bodies if it spare points fill what remains with warg riders, there not ment for a full pack and hit flank but more for crowd control adjustments and reposition in case you feel a bit overwhelmed for the lack of attacks..

this is my personnal experience, doesnt mean will work for you, just in smaller games better beat them with amass of bodies over a troll that can be pinned down by a captain in 1/2 rounds...
