EDIT: Request of which of THESE UNCHANGED lists you would. Without editing. Or new lists.

Howdy y'all! Just trying to decide between 3 lists I've made up: to be honest, they're pretty much the same list. I won't be changing them until I've used them and they're mostly based on models I currently have. I just want to know which out of the three 500pt lists you would use and why - without being allowed to change it :D Ta!

Easterling Captain - Shield - 50pts
7 Easterling Warriors - Bows - 56pts

Dragon Knight - 70pts

Easterling War Priest - 60pts
11 Easterling Warriors - 11 Pikes, 11 Shields - 99pts

Uruk-hai Captain - Heavy Armour, Shield - 60pts
Isengard Troll - 105pts

Easterling Captain - 45pts
8 Easterling Warriors - 7 Bows, 1 Shield - 64pts

Dragon Knight - 70pts

Easterling War Priest - 60pts
12 Easterling Warriors - Shields - 96pts

Uruk-hai Captain - Heavy Armour, Shield - 60pts
Isengard Troll - 105pts

Easterling Captain - 45pts
6 Easterling Warriors - Bows - 48pts

Dragon Knights - 70pts

Easterling War Priest - 60pts
10 Easterling Warriors - 7 Pikes, 9 Shields, 1 Banner - 111pts

Uruk-hai Captain - Heavy Armour, Shield - 60pts
Isengard Troll - Spear - 106pts

Honestly? None. They are all a bit rag tag for my liking and I have never liked isengard trolls. Much prefer the mordor variant and for the price of a Uruk captain and Isengard troll you can get a troll chief.

My advice would be:

Easterling War Priest
9 Easterling Warriors - Bows

Amdur
12 Black Dragon Warriors - 8 Pikes, 12 Shields

Mordor Troll Chieftain

While I like Dragon Knights, I like Amdur more, he not that much more, a better leader and a banner. I took out a few pikes, put also added in more warriors AND made the front line ones Black Dragons, trust me, the upgrade is worth it unless fighting against elves. If you are, take off that upgrade and add in 3 more standard warriors with either bows or or shields.

Don't wanna sound like an expletive, but I thought I'd OVERmentioned that I was just looking for people to choose one of the above 3 lists, where they had no other option, lol. Partly because it's based on the models I have and I'm testing some things out.

EDIT: Draugluin - your propoed list isn't even legal anyhow. Remember the 33% bows rule. You could only have 7 warriors with bow in that list.

The FAQs say that Easterlings have a 50% bow limit. Besides, it would be 9, not 7 if it was 33%, you round up. So, either way, it is a legal list. You should check them out.

In any case, I wouldn't choose any of them. None of them are really any good.

If it's entirely based on your models, check with your opponent to see if you can proxy the DK as Amdur and/or the troll for a chieftain.

Haven't checked the FAQ, but I used to know that they could take 50%, lol. What an eejit forgetting, eh? Hahaha, still that means some shields can be switched to bows int he above lists.

But heroes still don't count for the purposes of bow limits anyway, so if it were a different army, it would be illegal. But it would also mean my italics army was illegal because I forgot about the allied contingencies being done separately for bow limits.

Argh, made a right mess of this ;)

I'm trying to avoid proxies (even logical ones) right now. Also, an Isengard troll is preferable to a Mordor one for me 1) because of the sourcebooks and 2) the Defence and shielding bonuses (obviously, I'm not comparing to a chieftain there).

Right, looks like I need to rethink these lists in light of the bow limit rules anyway.

I picked underlined over the middle one because it actually has pikes. Either way neither list is ideal. Sorry man :(

WhoelsebutHaldir: I always think it best to have pikes as well, but in my last game, I just couldn't seem to bring them to bear because I was outnumbered. Rather, I couldn't make them more useful than spears, which I can get cheaper models (pintswise) for.

Like I say, I need to rethink these anyway. It was largely an experiment in using the commanders box and my hordes of Easterling Warriors and playing with a troll (of which I want to get painted before posting pictures of as I think it's quite special - until GW stole my idea and posted it on their blog and did a hap-hazard version, lol).

You're outnumbered because you're spending too much on heroes and monsters. You will get a lot more out of an uruk captain + full warband of uruks, than an uruk captain + troll.

The Dragon Knight is independent, at that point level he's not very effective.

I would like to say, though I may be too late, taht I would never be caught dead with any of those lists pal, as they are both competitively and thematically poor.

Theme - well, for starters, i abhor the Isengard troll, which i don't think should even exist. Then there is the fact that you have allied Easterlings with Isengard. Also terrably unthematic. Easterlings should slay those treachourous wizard-worshippers.

Competitive - too few models to be a regular army. You can take all hero/monster or a regular maxed warriors list, but prepare to fall when you mix and matvh the two.

The second option is the worst one, so definately not that. You really need spears / pikes. if I had to choose one, I would choose the bold list (list 3) because it seems the best.
