My dad, after watching me play some games, decided he wants to join the hobby. He has an infatuation with elf armies, but we can't decide how we should start his army. If he went the Lothlorien path, would it be better to go Wood elves or Galadrhim? I think High Elves would be cool, but it seems hard to buy them in bulk. Any help would be much appreciated!

I have about 130 or so high elves, and all bar 16 of them I got form ebay, even the heroes.

It depends how long your dad is prepared to wait to get a decent deal.

In terms of wood elves, a mix of galadhrim and wood elfs often works best, Legolas and Rumil are probably the two most important wood elf heroes imo. Try an independent stockist like element games for cheap(er) models :)

I think a combo of Galadhrim and wood elves is easier to optimize and customize. High elves suffer from poor packaging. Just a warning to your dad, wood elves are trickier to learn, but very rewarding once you figure them out. Their lower defence forces you to learn clever tactics.

I wouldn't take Legolas until after you take Thranduil. Free Aura of Dismay, Nature's Wrath and he's pretty good at shooting stuff too.

A combo of Galadhrim and wood elves works best, having said that the best hero in te list is probably Rúmil. After that Legolas and Thranduil are good leaders, if you buy direct from GW, a box or two of Galadhrim and a box or two of Wood Elves and a couple of the mentioned heros are a great start. If not, hit up eBay and I hope you get lucky! :)
