Is that too few warriors for an evil army? Thematically I like it.

On the face of it, I'd say yes, but then my own evil army has less troops...so maybe not. Isnt a halberd an elf blade? If it is, then it might be worth dropping the shield (unless you have the points spare). Has potential.

Possibly low, though the WK is pretty nasty and should be pretty effective. If there is any problem with the list it's that the mix of allies is diluting your strengths. Also, you have two expensive powerhouses with WK and Gothmog, and you might be better off rounding out with lots more orcs.

Gothmog and his 12 warg riders with TS are pretty expensive. In theory I'd say that's the right way to use Gothmog: he's not really set up to go toe to toe with Good heroes (he only matches Faramir in Fight, but is much more expensive), rather his purpose is denial and counter, and speedy troops are the best thing for that. However, the heroic action range of effect means it's unlikely he can affect them all, which means some will get left behind. Cavalry without a leader are as effective as your ability to win priority, otherwise they might as well be foot troops (okay, a bit of overstatement, but still...). With warg riders the 5+ shooting makes throwing spears nearly useless. So I'd reduce the number of warg riders to 6 or 8, and probably drop the TS.

The Easterling contingent could be tweaked: you're adding a banner, but for just a few more points you could drop the banner and upgrade the captain to Amdur who *is* a banner. This would also give you your only F6 hero (though I guess the fell beast can fill this role). You have no elite troops, so it might be useful if the Easterling warriors were upgraded to Black Dragons.

The Harad contingent feels a bit lost. If you're going to include them, including the Betrayer would make them more effective. Otherwise, unless you're fielding a much larger Harad contingent with lots more bows, I think you'd be better off with more Easterlings or more Orcs.

I was lucky over Labour Day weekend to get in three games, since my son showed a renewed interest. We played 1000 point games, and my second Gondor list had 60 models, but still included Boromir, Faramir, 6 knights, a full warband of fountain guard w/shield, and a full warband of rangers (6 warbands total with Damrod solo). The rest were WoMT. I have a feeling it would have chewed up your list, though I'm not sure about the effect of the WK. Then again, I could end up rolling as badly as I did in the first game, where in the first turn, my entire of line of spear-supported fountain guard lost *every @$&%&% fight* to a line of solo goblins, and didn't get a single kill until turn 4... :)

Okay thanks for the input guys - I'm going to drop the Haradrim. I've come up with a 1500pts list to work towards of models I like the look and sound of. I really like the idea of using the Undying, as his model and profile I really like, and so I've thrown in the War Priest, Orc Shaman, and Budget Wraith to take advantage of that. Similarly, Morgul Knights look and sound cool so combining them with a Wraith seems a good idea. As much as you might recommend Amdur to me, he's a very expensive model to find in metal (hate finecast).

Warband 1 12/12
The Witch-king of Angmar with armoured Fell beast; 3 Extra Might; 10 Extra Will; 3 Extra Fate;
6 Orc Warrior with Shield;
6 Orc Warrior with Spear;
----
Warband 2 6/12
The Undying with armoured horse;
1 Morgul Knight with Banner
5 Morgul Knight
----
Warband 3 8/12
Mordor Orc Shaman with Warg;
8 Warg Rider with Shield;
----
Warband 4 12/12

DOn't take the W-K and the Undying, and a generic Wraith Take 1 or the other, and always gove them a fell beast, (or if occasionally on foot), if you choose the Undying then keep the 2nd Wrraith, but keep him on foot.

You could still do with having Amdur. And I don't advise mixing Wargs and Knights. Also I would swap the Morannon spearmen for Mordor Orc Warriors, and never give the black dragon upgrade to your pikemen.

I'm trying to track down Amdur so he'll be a late addition. I've mixed it around to a more suitable 1000pts army - Why shouldn't I give the Black Dragon to my Pikemen? The extra courage helps, and they'll probably end up on the front line at some point. As it stands, with the below list, it'd give me 14pts to play with, 24 if I drop the Halberd and Bow from the captain, 19 if I swap him to a shield. This'd give me another 3-4 orcs, do you think that's worth the hassle of seperating a paint job on an army? I like for my forces to looks uniform.

Warband 1 6/12
The Undying with armoured horse;
6 Morgul Knight
----
Warband 2 12/12
Mordor Orc Shaman with Warg;
6 Orc Warrior with Shield;
6 Orc Warrior with Spear;
----
Warband 1 12/12
Easterling War Priest
1 Black Dragon Warrior with Banner
5 Black Dragon Warrior with Shield;
6 Black Dragon Warrior with Shield; Pike;
----
Warband 2 12/12
Easterling Captain with Shield;
6 Black Dragon Warrior with Shield;
6 Black Dragon Warrior with Shield; Pike;
----
Warband 3 10/12
Easterling Captain with Bow; Easterling halberd;
2 Black Dragon Warrior with Shield; Pike;
8 Black Dragon Warrior with Bow;
----
Warband 4 0/0
Easterling Dragon Knight
----

58 Units, 1000pts. When I get Amdur, I think I might try a list with the Knight of Umbar - they could make a great hero killing team. But this is what I'm looking at for now. Any thoughts?
