I haven't needed any help on most of the lists I've been making for WOTR recently. But this i sa rare excetion because it uses a core troop not commonly used. I have already discussed some of this withBeowulf, but thought I'd ask on here for any advice. 2,000pt Version Epic Heroes Khamul the Easterling The Betrayer The Dwimmerlaik Lugburz, Uruk Captain (Durburz) Legendary Formations: Ufluk's Guard (Shagrat's Tower Guard) (3 companies) with two-handed weapons Common Formations: Mordor Uruk-hai Warband (6 companies) with two-handed weapons Mordor Uruk-hai Warband (4 companies) with two-handed weapons Mordor Uruk-hai Warband (4 companies) with two-handed weapons Warg Rider Warband (4 companies) with shields, drummer Mordor Uruk-hai Archers (Uruk-hai Scout Warband with bows) (4 companies) Mordor Uruk-hai Shield-men (Uruk-hai Scout Warband with shields) (3 companies) Rare Formations: Black Guard of Barad-dur (3 companies) with Captain Mordor Troll Chieftain Orc/Uruk War Lord in Chariot (Khandish King) 1,000pt Version Epic Heroes The Dwimmerlaik Lugburz, Uruk Captain (Durburz) Common Formations: Mordor Uruk-hai Warband (6 companies) with two-handed weapons Mordor Uruk-hai Warband (4 companies) with two-handed weapons Mordor Uruk-hai Warband (4 companies) with two-handed weapons Warg Rider Warband (4 companies) Mordor Uruk-hai Archers (Uruk-hai Scout Warband with bows) (3 companies) Rare Formations: Black Guard of Barad-dur (3 companies) with Captain The theme of thi s army is the mordor Uruk-hai host that Sauron used to launch an attack on Osgiliath. They crushed Faramir's measly army but were driven out by Boromir's larger counter-attack. |

I wouldn't call Faramir's army measly, a huge army of Uruk-hai would be enough to crush most any army they come across. This army looks insanely powerful, the only thing is most of them have pretty low defence, with the exception of the Black Guards. I would switch out the Dwimmerlaik for Khamul in the smaller army. |

Also, why are you using Durburz? I don't have the book on me right now, but he's only a good choice if you have goblins because of his Overlord and Inspiring Leader rules. Granted, he does have 3 resiliance and 3 might, but still. |

Insanely powerful huh. That makes less sense, granted its more competitive than my usual armies but you say it that good even though 1. no Gothmog, and 2. No Morannons Hmm. Thank you for your help of course, I know the low defence but everyone needs a weakness, that why I put Khamul in there, and why the Shadow Lord would be wraith 4 in the bigger list. About swapping Dwimerlaik for Khamul in smaller army, I was thinking the list was poerful enough already an I wasn't originally going to put any wraiths in 1,000pts but decided they 'kinda useful', the main reason for the Dwimmerlaik in that one was because I wanted his ability to help the Black Guards get their charge off. Are you sure Khamul is needed? About Durburz, I just wanted a cheap ES in their that wasn't Gothmog, I don't really need the Overlord anyway, and in ther larger one I want Shagrat to fail his test anyway so no Inspiring Leaders, I only put him in the smaller one because it would lack serious might. Also, he has 4 might not 3, so even better. Cheers Draugluin. Also, Faramir's army was kinda measy, granted a large army of Uruk-hai would crush most people especially since that was the irst ever battle they had appeared in., but Denethor didn't trust Faramir with enough men, so he was a little undermanned which diodn't help. Thanks again. EDIT; Also any ideas for 1,500pts? |

I forgot he had 4 might, nevermind about Durburz. You may want to take my advice with a grain of salt though, as I've only played WotR once. However, if the WotR units are anything like SBG, then an army of only Uruk-hai (especially with Black Guards) with a good mix of Ringwraiths is bound to be awesome. |

Thanks for your advice anyway. I think it is generally agreed that almost any army become awesome with Ringwraiths in WOTR, Mordor Uruk-hai are kind of mid-level, they aren't underpowered or overpowered, and what you do with them could be everything, black Guards are awesome if you get the charge. Have you played against Dwarves by the way, because I may be facing them, I'm wondering if I'd just get cut to pieces as they have same strenght but much higher defence, plus they have Khazad Guard with Epic Rampage. On the other hand there are wraiths. Hmmm. (As an aside very few units perform the same wellnessin both WOTR and SBG, many units are much better in one system than the other) |

I've only played Dwarves in SBG, so I can't be that much help. All I do know is that dwarves can be taken out pretty easily with magic (in SBG) and I assume that it's even more the truth in WotR. |

Dwarves tend to do badly against Wraith magic. Khazad Guard with Epic Rampage will do well against your troops (Str 5 with +1 bonus = dead Uruks), but Warg Riders and Trolls will do more than a little to turn the tide there. Striking first is always nice and you probably won't have to worry about much arrow fire as only the Str2 ranger bows have a decent range (stupid shortbows, completely nerfed the SBG armoured dwarf archers). Be wary of warmachines though. Those ballistae will have a +1 bonus against the majority of your units, meaning they'll be hitting frequently and hard. |

Thanks guys. Unfortunately he probably will use Ballistas, if I got close I could try casting spells on them, but knowing my luck, that'll be when wraith decides not to cast a single spell (Yes, Dwimmerlaik I'm alking about the last tiome I used you) (sorrry I was just talking to a model). Epic Rampage on Khazad Guards would be awful too. Thanks WUTM, about wargs and troll, the cftn could also attempt to duel Dain - though that could be risky - what do you guys think? |

Remember though that you'll most likely have a good advantage in numbers, make sure to use that to your advantage as much as posible. |
