Post subject: | Help with My Easterlings |
So I'm in this campaign right now and I'm having trouble with picking a list to "aim for" Right now, I'm at 389 Points with the following list that I can not change. Easterlings Captain -Shield 12 Shield 5 Bow Serpent Hoard Assassin Guy 12 Haradim Spear 6 Haradim Bow I want to pick a 500 point list that I can aim for and build up my army around. I was thinking about this list: Easterlings Captain -Shield, Armored Horse 14 Shield 6 Bow Serpent Hoard Assassin Guy 12 Haradim Spear 7 Haradim Bow 5 Serpent Riders Or I was thinking about adding in the Spider Queen or a Nazgul. My local area seems to be rather hero happy ( a lot of Boromirs and Gilgalads). But I'm not sure. I'm currently undefeated with my current list (My assassin took out three great eagles with ease ^^) but I'm thinking going with more numbers would be better then going for a third hero. I'm also thinking that I can go with my original plan and then add in a third, or possibly the Spider Queen and the Nazgul, for my 700 Point list I'll aim for. Thoughts and suggestions? |

Your easterlings could use some spears to benefit from their phalanx rule. |

Yes, I was thinking about that, But I was aiming for more guys so that I could surround rather that pay 10 points for a Spearman who sits in the back. I played some with pure Easterlings and out of my ~20 warriors, I only had 5-6 Spears. I don't now why, but I don't find them that useful and I rather prefer the fluid style of trying to wrap around a flank with lots of guys. |

You're probably able to use this tactic because your opponents go hero-heavy and you outnumber them anyway. But if they start using a decent force might be wishing you had those spears. You do have the 12 harad spears, but easterlings can use theirs as pikes. Getting 3 dice can hold a narrow spot for quite a long time. |

I guess it would be possible to drop an archer and give 4 guys Pikes... I'd also be able to give my assassin 5 attacks.... Hmmmm.... |

So my new 500 point list would look like this: Easterlings Captain -Shield, Armored Horse -12 Shield -5 Bow -4 Spear and Shield Serpent Hoard -Assassin Guy -12 Haradrim Spear -6 Haradrim Bow -4 Serpent Riders It's 45 guys and only 11 bows (not counting the Assassin's thrown weapons and blowpipe) Would this be a good list in general? Should I drop my Easterling bowmen (I kinda like lining them up in front of the Haradrim so that they have a bit more defense) and just aim for a few more guys? *Edit: I can't get rid of my Easterling bows. It's a campaign* |

I would strongly recommend dropping the captain's horse in favour of some more spears and bows. Always try and max-out on bows if you can, especially when you've got the best evil shooting army with you. for 500 you could do something like this: Captain, shield. 55 x9 Easterlings with shields. 72 x8 Easterlings with bows. 64 x6 Easterlings with spears and shields. 60 Hasharin. 90 x12 Haradrim with spears. 72 x8 Haradrim with bows. 48 x3 Serpent Riders. (They're 13 points right?) Points: 500 Men: 48 Might: 5 Bows: 16 |
