I've been using an army builder and I have come up with this army, what do you guys think?

Moria:
1x Durburz - 60 pts
8x Moria Goblins w/ Shield - 40pts
8x Moria Goblins w/ Spear - 40pts
7x Moria Goblins w/ Orc Bow - 35pts
1x Cave Troll w/ Spear - 81pts

Points - 256 Model Count - 25

Isengard Raiders:
1x Lurtz - 60pts
1x Ugluk - 60pts
16x Uruk-Hai Scouts w/ Shield - 144pts
7x Uruk-Hai Scouts w/ Orc Bow - 63pts

Points - 327 Model - 25

Total Points - 583 Model Count - 50

Might: 8

I would fill the 17 points but i've reached my model limit, so what do you guys think, i'd like you to recommend any chops and changes or if you like it the way it is.

Durburz is higher points value than that, I think. It will need a little adjustment.

He isn't, both the army builder and the Shadow and Flame source book that he is 60 points.

Which tweaks would you recommend?

Well of that right, I thought he was the same points as Druzhag.

To make use of that 17points (which is a lot) you could switch some goblins for uruks, or if you don't mind spending £8.20, swap 3 Scouts for Feral Uruks, also your goblin spears can support the scouts, so you won't be needing as many shield goblins.

Just my opinion though.

With that now done the Isengard Raiders force looks like this:

Isengard Raiders:
1x Lurtz - 60pts
1x Ugluk - 60pts
14x Uruk-Hai Scouts w/ Shield - 123pts
6x Uruk-Hai Scouts w/ Orc Bow - 54pts
3x Feral Uruk-Hai - 36pts

Points - 336pts Model Count - 25

Does that sound better now? I think it's better as Orc Bows are not that great so the addition of some Feral Uruk-Hai is good, though I don't know their stats.

I think that would be a good list, I can't give you their stats but Feral Uruks are good.

Yeah, shame you can't give me the stats, I shall check Games Workshop site for them.

Are they like heavy hitters or stealth units?

They're of the heavy hitter variety, not as powerful as bezerkers of course, but you'd need and extra hero, so stick to feral uruks

Yes, I've checked their stats, good courage and such. They look worth the points. Do you think the three heroes is enough or just one to many?

Well Ugluk might not add much since you've already golt Lurtz, but 3 extra might could be helpful, it depends if you prefer that many. Two or three heroes is probably the way to go.

My plan was to have Ugluk go with the Scouts with shield and have Lurtz go with the archers. The Feral Uruk-hai will stay with the archers to protect them from any advancing warriors?

What do you think?

That might work quite well, you've a nice battleline, some archers with guards, which would be good deterents too, and they're unlikely to flee to courage like others and a hero, do you plan on vollying with scout and goblin archers? I think that it's not unbeatable of course, but you could definately do well with this list and plan.

What do you mean by volleying? I amn't upto top standard with my knowledge of the shooting phase.

I think that people will always look to take archers down with their archers if they are the likes of Rohan and Gondor due to their superior range so I think I will need to keep them closer to the battle so I need the Feral Uruk-Hai to keep the enemy units charging into my archers and taking them out due to their lower defence.

The one thing I haven't thought of is how to use the Goblins and the Cave Troll.

Vollyin is a special type of shooting, you need at least 10 archers with the same shooting weapon eg Orc bows so both goblinns and uruks can fire together.
As for the gobbos, use them as a screen and to guard flanks of your battleline and use their spears to support your uruks and Ugluk.
Keep the troll screened so it's harder for archers to kill and then use it to attack groups of enemies, don't let it get force fed one enemy a turn, I made the same mistake with a a Spider Queen many years ago and lost.

Thanks for that, what is the difference between volleying with 10 orc bows and just firing 10 orc bows normally?

Also, I guess Durburz need to be placed near the goblins for when the force breaks?

The firing normally is well normal, but when vollying you bick a single target for them all, which has to be within half their normal distance and twice it I think, so it would be something like 9-36" range, they only hit on 6s, all models within I think 6" of the target could also be hit, in this way you can kill targets wearing elven cloaks etc, in the OR book, there is a section on it near the wargear section, I'm not sure if it's in the MoM one though.
Yes, Durburz should be with the goblinns for his extended stand fast that only affects gobbos.

I think the tactics are pretty much sorted so far, minus dealing with cavalry.

I just need to collect the models. I'm going to go into the attic and check for any of my old models from when I was younger, hope I haven't thrown them out!

I used to own the MoM starter set from when it was only £40 and I started to get uninterested with the hobby and at that price I can't see my parent throwing it out, but you never know. :(
