Just wondering if anyone has used these before. They are pretty underrated, with only their Fight Value setting them apart from the basic human races like Rohan and Dunlendings, and they do not really represent the mightiest race of men in middle-earth very well. They only have one troop type, and 2 heroes, who unlike the troops, are very powerful. So anyone used a 'pure' army of numenor in a game or at a tournament before? If not, have you used them with any other force, (except second age elves, obviously)? Also, what does everyone think about using the stats for black numenoreans to represent them? Thanks. |

Yes someone has, i read about it in blackmists blog thing. I would not bash having a high fight value, They are realtively cheap infantry who, when allied with elves, can provide numbers, powerful heroes and do not ruin the high fight value of the army. You can also have legolas in a numenorian army. Which is pretty good since you'd think he should be restricted to third age forces considering the ridiculous power of the rest of the heroes of the second age. |

I think they're terrible profiles, you might like my wiki better http://lotr-bythebook.wikispaces.com/ I haven't had great experience with them. They are cheap, but the heroes are so expensive it's hard to build a good army at 500 points. In a larger force with alliances I think they work well though. |

According to the 'official' Top Trumps Cards, which follow film more than book, he said he is 7000 yearsold which is nearly a 1000 years older than they said Elrond is. Weirder, right. |

Either did i but for some reason EVERYONE can ally with thranduils halls or the fellowship so its impossible to not have legolas in an army. In this instance i believe they overlooked legolas being in the list and just thought about thranduil being able to ally with Elendils boys. And btw GothmogtheWerewolf those cards are total bull and i picked up on that problem the second i bought them years ago. |

Yes, I was actually reading your webpage very recently. I must congratulate you on the quality and precision of the rules, which are much more realistic than GW's, in a way, that was part of the reason I started this thread, as these guys were one of the main culprits, and I thought I would see if anyone had done anything positive with them. @ Gothmogthewerewolf: I'm pretty sure alot of the people on here have those cards, and yeh, I agree the stats are pretty much crud, I'm not sure where they got the information from to be honest. |

I have, I took a Numenroian army to a Tournament earlier this year to much success. It was 650 point tournament I took pure Numenroians. Numenorians a deceptively strong there High fight is good but what makes the army Tick is Elendil and Isildur. they for lack of a better word mess things up. Numenor armies have surprising speed with free heroic combats from Elendil and can assassinate just about anything with Isildur on a Horse. The trick with Numenor is you must take at least one of there 2 big heroes it's what makes the list fun and deadly. The rank and file troops can last for a while and with a banner behind them it'll take the enemy some time to break through. This was the 650 list I took.... Elendil with Shield Isildur with Horse and Shield Numenor banner bearer 13 Warriors of Númenor with Bow 10 Warriors of Númenor with Shield 16 Warriors of Númenor with shield and spear Make what you like of the list it may not be the be all and end all of Númenorian lists but it managed to bag me First place at the tournament with out dropping a game. After playing in that tournament I highly rate Númenor even without there elven allies. As i have seen Elendil carve his way through to a spider queen killing it and seen the amazing magic that is an Invisible Isildur. That said though Numenor is a tricky army you dan't make a mistake or let your any of your heroes go down or it'll be costly. |

I played this list on 500 points: Isildur 16 numenor with shield 16 with bow 16 with spear and shield And I had very good experience with it. Isildur is also the ultimate ringwraith killer. Put on the ring then the only one that can see and attack you is the ringwraith so you can also attack the ringwraih. And isildur is very good to kill ringwraith with 3 attacks and might. |

Regarding Thranduil's Halls as an ally, from what I've read Thranduil's father died during the Last Alliance's battle with Sauron, and he has been ruler of the Elves of Greenwood / Mirkwood for about 3000 years. So it's pretty historical that they can ally with pretty much anyone that had positive contact with the Elves. As for Legolas, I thought he was supposed to have been born sometime after TA 1000 but that still leaves a long time when he could have been alive...but not for the battle of the Last Alliance. Yes, LoME does allow it...but that doesn't mean it's "right". LoME does a great job simplifying most of the proper themes but they really should have broken things down into SA and TA to help a little more. You don't have too many places to cross time horribly but this is one example. |
