It was a white wash at the end as Gandalf and Eomer's riders came so I then I don't think the uruks stood a chance. |

Well imo isengard should have won... its just ridiculous how these few men and elven (even if they had great heros) won against those maybe 10k uruks... Ok there was that final cavalry charge with gandalf but actually the horses would have been shredded by those pikes altough if they overran the first rows... |

That was one of the dumbest scenes in the movie. The horses would never have made it down that slope in the first place. They would have rolled, tumbled, legs breaking, Riders flying...and the uruks would have sat there laughing. |

I was thinking the same thing. Although the tumbling horses could have caused an avalanche which would have flooded the valley with debris and no one would have one. |

the uruk-hai would have killed theoden and aragon when they rode out there were too many uruk-hai that could have killed them |

It depends, the book and the movie are really different... It was a nice battle, but somewhat a bit unbelievable, still it is LotR, so it is good, what ever the outcome was. |

ye, but i still think that the uruk-hai should have killed at least half of eomers riders |

The problem with the films was that the loser gets slaughtered. The uruks get slaughtered, WoMT get slaugthered.. at some points the orcs, then the elves.. |

in the book eomers there from the start the army is mostly made of dunlenders the uraks are the elites and the huorns (trees) finished off the urak hai gandalfs charge just scared them away. also the elves dont come and there are a hell of alot more rohan inside the fortress. so neither should have won it was the ents/huorns that finished off the uraks so i presume rohan includes the ents so im voting rohan |

that is true, but isengard still have the better warriors, and there are more of them than there are rohan |

Most of us have read the book..... Remember that the two versions of the battle (book and movie) are VERY different, as imrail has already said. hobbitsrule22 wrote: about 5k rubbish men and 3k uraks approx in book who run v 10k ent like creatures
there were more than 10,000 uruks as well as dunland men in the book. and where'd you get 10,000 huorns from? also the huorns were more like trees than ents. "the uruk-hai would have killed theoden and aragon when they rode out " but they didn't, because the men were on horses going at full speed. |

but they didn't, because the men were on horses going at full speed. I think everyone would react different if you stood in the shoes of an uruk, human or whatsoever. The fun thing is, that you can reenact a battle like that, or.. well with a couple of thousand man, but still, it is possible. |

In the books gandalf arrived with Erkenbrand and 1000 men on foot, which by themselves would have never stood a chance against the host of isengard. theoden had already been just barely holding out at helms deep with 2000 so 1000 men on foot outside the walls would have still been overwhelmed once the uruks had realized it was only 1000 men they were fighting and not an entire army. the real kicker was the big forest that had arrived behind the isengard forces, they were terrified of the trees, and for good reason. The combined confusion of theodens suicidal charge, gandalfs timely arrival and the sudden presence of a large sentient forest in their to their rear was just too many psychological blows for the uruks to take and they routed and fled into the trees which ultimately took their very brutal revenge on them. The vicotry at helms deep would have not been possible without the hurons. Remove hurons = isengard vicotry. Add hurons = rohan victory |

It sure is, and that is why Merry and Pippin where so important to Gandalf if they stayed in Fangorn forest. |
