I was wondering if anyone here has been to the GW at Lakeside , i heard they are quite keen on the Hobbit there and have regular tournaments. I was just wondering as my hometown of Ipswich is absolute hell , i went in and just got tempted to play 40K. I could NOT find one single Hobbit player there :(

I have indeed although I'm not sure how much use it'll be. I spent a goodly amount of time in that GW as a 14/15 year old in 1997ish! There weren't as many GWs around back then and we always used to stop in when we visited my Gran. it was quite the treat! I even entered a Warhammer Tournament there, can't remember how well I did though...

Good times, simpler times :-)

Obviously that's not all that much help to you but I do know they're running a SBG campaign on Wednesdays which certainly bodes well and is a lot more support than many stores give the system. If I lived just a little closer I'd make the trip but it's just too far mid-week, here's a link to the info:

Enjoy, got a lot of good memories of that store...

You should, it's a really good community and there's been a lot of tournaments already this year, there's another this weekend in Preston (rather short notice!) and one in Scotland in November. Nothing firmly planned beyond that but there are 3 events being discussed for Jan-March 2014.

It's a really great way to meet new players, play different armies and most importantly have loads of fun! If you haven't joined the Facebook group check it out over here:

Hope to see you at an event soon!

On an absurd side note, I have a friend who is a wine expert called Antonia Essex. I always like to torment her by telling the same terrible joke:

"What is an Essex Girls favourite wine?".........

..................................................................."Can I go to Lakeside?"

I think there's a gaming centre in Colchester, not sure if there is any Hobbit there. Was planning on checking it out at some point. Might be worth considering?

There's a good chance I will be in the Colchester area next Saturday (2nd), I was thinking of going to the 4TK store, with the gaming centre. I've not been there before, but from the website it looks like 2.50 entry. It's not definite yet, but if I do end up going that way I'd be looking for a game.

4tk is mainly Warmachine/40k. Last time I was there I don't remember them even stocking LotR/Hobbit, I know they definitely don't carry enough stock for it to be on their online store. It's absent entirely.

Same for the Chelmsford Bunker club, you won't find any LotR/Hobbit there either. In fact, you'd be lucky to find any GW at all at either place.
