Christmas Day at the firehouse saw an all day stand down and was very relaxed. So it was that Middle Earth took over the mess table. White Dwarf was handed around in the pre game warm up.

Then the wargaming began. My opponent, playing Moria checks his playsheet:

I prepare for ensuing battle, giving my Rohan and AotD allies a motivating speech:

My forces were guided by official Majestic Bear logo dice, courtesy of DMS :)

Occasional assistance was given from other members of the Watch:

It was a good game but inevitably I was the victor. Fortunately we didn't get a single call all shift, so it was a very relaxed atmosphere and enjoyable day :)

Glad to hear it was a quiet shift. I'm still trying to convince guys at my workplace to get into it, but they're reluctant to move past risk. They have the typical preconception that its a geeks hobby. But I think im making headway.

Out of interest, what board is that you're playing on?

Firemen that old? You won't find many under thirty these days. We used to have to retire at 55 but the government in its infinite wisdom has us going until 60 now. Way past our prime.

The terrain is modular hex terrain from HTTP://WWW.kallistra.co.uk

Great Games, Mr Freddy, I thought this topic would be some general Christmas party time thing, but I was pleseantly surprised that you were playing LotR, even more surprised taht someone was using a Dweller. Looking good guys 8)

Twice a year. Christmas day and Easter Sunday. We do occasionally paint minis on the nightshift. I sometimes take a sculpt in that I'm working on. But those are the only two days we get an official stand down.(i.e. no training.)

Looks like a lot of fun, Dave! When I was a security guard we would sometime set up and play during our breaks on third shift. We could get a small game (approx. 500 points) in pretty easily.

I really like the look of your Kallistra terrain, but I think the cost would be a bit prohibitive on this side of the pond. So far, I've been making due with a GW grass mat (good quality, but a bit bland) and I just used some of my Christmas money to purchase a Zuzzy mat and terrain.
