Hi all. I'm Markku, from Finland. I've posted some comments here in One Ring already, but guess it's polite to make a proper intro.

I used to roleplay in Middle-Earth back in my University days. Good old Rolemaster. Sadly that part of my life ended when moving away. But now that I got a 9-year-old daughter I've been able to revive the old gaming hobby.

I read her Tolkien as bedtime story two years ago. First the Hobbit and since she loved it so much, the LotR. The latter took over half a year to complete, 4-5 pages of small print per night, but it was absolutely worth it. Seeing her genuine reactions to the story was amazing. She cried when Gandalf fell and was overjoyed when he came back. After that we watched the movies, and she loved them as well. Gimli is her absolute favorite.

That Christmas I bought the MoM box and we've had plenty of good times with it. She's still laughing about that one game where the troll stuffed Frodo down the well. Little by little we've been growing our armies and making some terrain pieces for the dinner table. She commands a mean troop of dwarves and I'm building a Moria-Isengard force.

I'm hoping her brother, who's soon 6, will also start showing interest.

Tervetuloa! :)

Great to see another Finn around here. I too started Middle-Earth RPG in my university days, but I've been able to continue it with the same gaming buddies after we all graduated. We've been playing MERP for almost twenty years now, with occassionally some SBG mixed in. Welcome and have fun! And nice to see you have already started introducing the next generation to the hobby.
