I went to Armageddon 2011 today, a comic-con here in my home town, and who should be there as a keynote speaker but John Rhys-Davies, the actor who played Gimli in the LOTR. How cool is that!!! He was sitting alone at the autograph table when I got there. There were not other LOTR actors there, but Karen Allen was there (she was my fav actress for decades after Raiders of the Lost Ark).

I was totally geeked out, I felt like Sheldon or Leonard from Big Bang Theory.

He was sitting down, so I didn't get any idea about how tall he was. He certainly didn't look 6'2" to me, but then I suppose I have this mental image of him as a dwarf and it would have been a bit too much for me if he'd been towering over me (I'm 5'8")

His height is officially listed on IMDB as 6'1". Him playing a dwarf was a huge joke on the set of Lord of the Rings. He was taller than Orlando Bloom (5'11"0 and Sean Bean (5'10").
