Post subject:  Commission price

Not sure if this is in the right part of the forum... But I just wanted to ask all of you guys, who are also painting/modeling for other people, what would be a fair price for a miniature? So far I have painted just for myself, but as things stand, I might get a commission in near future.

I was thinking maybe a price list like:
-5€ infantry model
-10€ cavalry model
-13€ hero
-25€ mounted hero
-35€ monster

Would you say that's too much?

Thank you for the answers :)

And to know what standard I am aiming at - here is my WIP tread: viewtopic.php?f=50&t=33504

It all depends on how much time and effort you put into a model as to how much you can charge and still be fair to yourself. For instance £13 for a foot hero - How long would you spend painting and basing this hero? Personally I would spend a full day on a foot hero so as you can imagine I would charge a lot more.

Well the best way imo would be this:

Calculate the time each model takes YOU including:
-Cleaning/Priming/Basing/Painting/Packaging/Going to the post office

Calculate the materials you use:
-for example a brush may last for 25 models
-a bottle of paint 15 etc
-grass tufts 30 models
-packaging for 5 models so on..

Set your hourly wage.

Then (time per mini x hurly wage) + cost of consumables per miniature = Your price/per mini.

It's kinda suprising on how much it adds up per model, especially if you are doing a decent paintjob. If you can't find people of your price range (or you can't speed up your painting) you'll end up working for way below minimum wage and probably giving it up after a while and/or hating painting.

All said, best of luck and many happy clients 8)
