Hey guys, I'm trying to track down the info on a couple of models I've seen in pictures. First is a Rohan Royal Guard banner bearer (he doesn't have a banner sculpted but his spear is part or the hand and much longer) I have seen a few of them in pictures and just won one from eBay. What's his deal? I never remember seeing him at GW or in any bundles. The other is Hama. I know there's a version of him with his sword pointing down that came with the Defenders of Rohan set around the time of the Two Towers journey book. I've definitely seen another version that's similar to Gamling but with a less wide stance. Any info on this one? I'm hoping he's reasonably easy to come by since I'd rather not have to buy the entire Defenders set. |

Hama is indeed from the Defenders set. If I recall correctly, there was an alternate version of him specially sculpted for BGiME. It was available for direct order during that glorious time when you could buy bitz direct. Fortunately, this is the more readily available sculpt, though Hama is quite difficult to find on the secondary market. The banner bearer sounds like a conversion. There were a set of banners included with one of the issues and the suggestion was to use a brass rod to elongate the spear and then stick the banner on. This was also presented in the TT version of the rulebook and many converted banner bearers can be seen therein. Hope that helps! |

The Royal Guard banner isn't a conversion, the rider's a one-piece cast already armed with a vertical spear significantly longer than the normal throwing spears (to the best of my knowledge exclusive to the magazine). The magazine did indeed have a sticker sheet with various banners (2 Isengard, 2 Mordor, 2 Gondor and 2 Rohan), the latter of which for this guy and the others for any conversions. It further had a selection of massive banners to be used for a Meduseld terrain piece. |

Banner bearer is definitely NOT a conversion. I have two, you can often find them on eBay for a fairly reasonable price. |
