I missed this auction when I was looking for minis this evening, I've never seen these sculpts before, has anyone else?

I'm furious that I missed out on this one, there are a few more pieces for sale, but this appears to be the most unusual lot, as I've not seen these sculpts for hobbits before, are these unique?

That pippin sculpt is fantastic, also I believe second one is sam gamgee with sting and the light of elendil, much batter pose/sculpt than the one featured in "in the clutches of shelob"

Looks like there are others for sale and and a really nice elf sculpt that might be one of Elrond's sons sold already too. I'd love to own these!

Each looks to be a different sculpt from the released miniature, maybe these ones didnt get through the approval process?

Yeah this is the auction itself... Some sculpts listed are real close to the ones released. I'm really annoyed I didn't find these sooner, I'd have paid $100's for these!

Here is a comparison of the Elladan/Elrohir (not sure which is which) but the one for sale looks like the left hand model.

and the sculpt of sale, which is far superior IMO

I'm thinking GW had to sculpt a few different models for each character before they got approval from the license holder, which would make these almost unique!

These look like more recent sculpts. The Hobbit range is more dynamic than LotR, and these models reflect that. Hopefully these are some of the future models coming down the pipe through finecast.

This is his story:

MANY, MANY YEARS AGO I DID SUB-CONTRACT RESIN CASTING FOR GAMES WORKSHOP/FORGE WORLD.

WHEN GAMES WORKSHOP DECIDED TO MOVE RESIN CASTING IN-HOUSE A SQUAD CAME UP WITH AN ITINERARY OF STUFF( MOULDS/MASTER PATTERNS/CASTINGS etc) TO TAKE BACK TO NOTTINGHAM.

WHAT WAS LEFT, BASICALLY THINGS THEY DIDN'T WANT, I WAS TOLD TO "DO WHAT YOU WANT WITH IT"
WHILST RECENTLY SEARCHING MY WORKSHOP FOR SOMETHING I CAME ACROSS A BOX WITH RANDOM CASTINGS IN IT. THESE CASTINGS I WILL BE LISTING ON eBAY OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS.
HARDLY ANYTHING COMPLETE BUT MAY BE OF USE TO SOMEONE.

GENUINE GAMES WORKSHOP/FORGE WORLD RESIN CASTINGS, NOT RE-CASTS!!!!

PRE-PRODUCTION RESIN CASTINGS FOR A FIGURE WHICH WAS EVENTUALLY PRODUCED IN PLASTIC
(2 DIFFERENT ARMS OPTIONS)

NOT LOOKING TO MAKE LOADS OF MONEY FROM THESE BUT LOATHED TO THROW THEM AWAY SO LOW START AND NO RESERVE

I hope so, the seller says in the listing that he was subcontracted to do some test casts for GW 'many, many years ago', so these are really an interesting oddity.

The same seller just posted more, including a Barrow Wight, Swan Knight, and Dain.

Looks like those are gone too, the Dain was another unique sculpt by the look of it!

Is it normal that things like this come up from time to time?

Did anyone get a screen grab of the other miniatures mentioned above? I'm quite intrigued by these and would like to investigate further
