Post subject:  Miniatures basing - magnets questions

Hi everyone, i'm wondering what manet size i should use for the base of my miniatures. I want them to stay put in my metalic storage boxes and on my war of the ring trays. I've been looking on a few websites and my idea is to use N48 magnets, probably 3mm x 2mm (diameter x thickness).

1) Am i'm doing the right choice? I want to have a second thought as i'll buy a load lf magnets. Is n48 too strong, should i use n42? 2mm seems fit, is it a bit too much? I plan to glue them, so it won't add to the thickness.

2) where do you buy your magnets?

Thanks everyone!

I bought some magnets from here: http://www.greenstuffworld.com/en/47-neodymium-magnets

As of thickness you have 2 options. I used to glue the 1mm ones under the bases and on top of the movement trays first. This was actually pretty good until I found magnetic sheet metal (which was obviously much better). So if you have a metal movement tray or board I'd suggest using the 2mm thick magnets.

However...

Recently I started using different bases. They're laser-cut 3mm thick bases that are magnetic on one side and cost 0,11 pounds each. So that's 11 pounds per 100 which is fairly reasonable I'd say.

I use those because they match perfectly with the magnetic movement trays from the same company which makes them really lovely to make warband dioramas with.
