It is accepted by mini a player, that aragorn is an expensive piece. As I have used the ranger multiple times in multiple incarnations (stryder, elessar and nearly everything in betwee), I want to generate some discussion and ask, stryder in armor (not elessar). Yea or nay?

I would argue this to be a pretty good if not the best version of a "budget" gorn. He would be expensive but would provide great melee skill to an army with nothing but 6s and 3s in all the right spots. Not mention his special rule.

I'm not saying that he is better than elessar in combat, but that this option allows you to field a tough hero without spending half your point allotment on a single piece. What say you?

We agree that Aragorn in Armor is an excellent model for an army. However, before you immediately believe that he is a fraction of Elessar's cost, remember that Strider cannot lead troops. Therefore, if you want more of an army, you will have to purchase yet another captain to field them. Elessar does not have this problem.

However, if you simply have points remaining and you want to fill it with Strider, then this is a very good idea. We would also recommend armor since Strider is too easy to wound without it.

Good point, I forgot that stryder is in the fellowship faction thus cannot lead an army. However, there are plenty of heroes that cost less than anduril which is where the extra points come from with elessar.
