Just wondering if anyone knows the gauge of the bit that the citadel drill comes with. Need to know what diameter brass rod to order as the local shop doesn't sell it anymore. |

I just use normal sized paper clips. |

Yeah: Standard paper clips fit perfectly with the smallest drillbit. |

Just a word of warning about cutting paperclips: make sure your cutters can handle the metal. I once accidentally used the old GW softmetal cutters on a paper clip made of hard brass and now they look like wire cutters with a hole in the middle. -- Pasi |

I use 1mm guage 'garden wire' (non coated), and of course 1mm bits which are a lot more common around these days (I can get 10 1mm bits for about £1-£2 - gone are the days of buying 20 bits in every conceivable size in a small box, from 0.05 - 2mm and then letting the expletives flow when the 1-2 you actually do use snap). 1mm is good and sturdy for most pinning tasks including metal troll limbs etc. Sometimes I want to pin something more delicate (a uruk pike for example is rather narrow to get a standard 1mm bit into) so I have some wire from an art store used by scupltors to make armatures and is slightly 'bendier' than the garden wire (or paperclips). That is 0.65mm. And then when I am completely fed up of gluing uruk swords back on (which must be about the 'snappiest' weapon on lotr models) i use a very fine wire from a chain craft store that may have been used for flower arranging or something. anyway it came in about 12cm lengths and is about 0.3mm guage I think. |

Paper clips for me too, they fit just fine. |

I bought a load of spears from gripping beast which are about twice to three times as long as I need them to be. Checked last night and they're the perfect size for one of the drill bits I have with my drill, so the excess offcuts I have will be used for pinning (Wooo, Yaaaay) |
