Post subject: | Bolg's Skin |
Hello all, I am thinking of painting up a Bolg mini I have lying around - it's the older version, the kind that is now called a gundabad general. I am wondering what would be the best way to paint his skin - it is pale like Azog but for some reason I don't think following the instructions on Tale of Painters (http://taleofpainters.blogspot.com/2014 ... filer.html) would produce the right effect. I have seen some lovely Bolgs painted around here and was wondering what people thought the optimal color scheme was. Should I basecoat/prime in white? How do you achieve that pale effect without making him pure White like Azog? Thanks again - everyone around here is always so helpful. Frogmorton |

Dave (UKFB) gave a quick run through on how I painted my Bolg's skin in his fixing the gap in bolg's warg you tube video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_4K67Cu6dU |

A good way of pallid/pale flesh is to base a light grey (not white) and then hit it with a light (very thin) pink or light purple wash, before rehighlighting with the original colour. It adds colour without making the skin look too bright. |

I went for a base coat of Rakarth Flesh washed with a mix of Ogrynn Flesh and Agrax Earthshade. I then highlighted up with Rakarth Flesh and gradually added more Pallid Wych Flesh to it for every further highlight. I was pretty chuffed with the result and I'll be doing the same thing when I get around to painting the new Bolg. |
