Was the newer sculpt of Gothmog (Pelennor) that GW has on their website only ever available in resin or was it also done in metal? I think I remember all the Pelennor models like Theoden and the Witchking being released when War of the Ring came out. Was Finecast around then?

If possible I would like to get this newer sculpt in metal, although I will get it in resin I I have to as I really don't like the older sculpt. If anybody has it in resin, have you had any problems with the cast?

Alright. Now the question is whether I patiently hunt down a metal one on ebay or if I take my chances with a finecast one. If anybody has a finecast Gothmog, can you please reassure me that yours was nicely cast and wasn't a nightmare like other people generally describe finecast to be?

You have to actually type gothmog into the search function. Their website seems to hide some things unless you specifically search for them. Finding that out has led to a few panic attacks on my part.

Mine turned out alright, even came with a straight sword, instead of the spaghetti I usually associate with FC minis. It was a pretty good pack. Replaced the dead guys on his base with a rock, and ended up modelling them as an objective marker. Not very often I get to play with gore in LotR minis!

Although testing the Gothmog search on the UK store has no results, at least on my end. :(

That is strange that it doesn't appear on the UK store. It's still up for me on the US store. And that's good to know that yours came out well, Creaky. I guess I'll probably just (begrudgingly) give finecast a try.

You're safe giving it a go - if it's not up to spec, then GW will refund or replace (or often just send another one out to you if it's an online order). Say what you will about the company (and I do), their customer service is impeccable.
