Hey guys, I recently found a set for sale on Kijiji that I'd never heard of before; the "Eastern Invaders" set. There are no special models in it, it consists of 40 plastic Easterlings, 6 metal Kataphrakts and a metal Captain and banner. I had never heard about the set though, and it seems to me that it must have come out during a period when I was pretty into the game. Were there any other similar sets released for other armies? It seems like this would have definitely been a solid foundation for an Easterling force. |

There were a couple others I stumbled across... Harad Battlehost One for Gondor Another for Isengard heck, the Harad one was on the GW site 2 years ago, but you could not get to it through the links on GW's site. I came across it searching when I first got started. |

There used to be a Mordor, Isengard, Easterlings, Gondor and maybe Rohan set. For a short bit they released them at a minor discount. That's how I got all my Easterlings save for a single metal blister of 3 |

As JamesR said, basically one for every Army in TTT/ROTK. They were released just after ROTK I believe. Nothing special about them, just an army in a box type of thing. It must have been the Rohan Battlehost set which came with the special Rohan captain, not this set. The battlehost had named heroes in it, so cost a bit more. |

I think there were a couple of different versions of some of the sets (like the Minas Tirith one) with essentially the same stuff, but some differences. If memory serves, the original Minas Tirith one (can't remember what it was called) may have had the metal knights in it, and the newer one went on to include rangers, plastic knights and had more models. One of them had Boromir and Faramir in it, whereas the other had just a captain and banner bearer. I got the Eastern Invaders set, and the second Minas Tirith one back when they were available. |

Hmm, cool stuff. I'll have to be on the look out for the others. I bought the Easterling one; paid $30 for it (10 Easterlings are $29.75 from GW) and when I got it home and opened it, I found that it had most of a Heroes of the West set as well. Only missing Gimli and Gandalf. |

There was also a Dwarf one that included a Ballista, Captain, Banner, 6 Iron Guards, and a large number of Rangers, and Dwarven Warriors; my local hobby store had the set until half a year ago. I've also seen a "Defenders of Pellenor Fields" (or something like that), and a "Denizens of the Dark" set which contained a number of Goblins, and assorted creatures, and if I am not mistaken a Balrog. |
