I am sure that the Tolkien scholars here can generate a listing of characters who played some part in the books, yet have not been produced in miniature by GW. I've got all the GW heroes and villians am looking to expand into new territory through converting GW figures or using proxies to make stand-ins. Here's an example: viewtopic.php?f=50&t=25174 GW doesn't make Duilin or Derufin who are mentioned in the books as riding into MT with the Blackroot Vale Archers. They are the sons of Duinhir, who is made by GW. There must be dozens of others. Any suggestions? |

I know there are many, and it would take long to fill. Best advice would be to pick what faction you want to focus on expanding and research that one thoroughly and pick characters you would want to make. And edless list would be harder to know where to start. Galdor of the Grey Havens is at the council of Elrond. Should be easy to alter one of the many elronds or council members to make him. King Brand of Dale, would be able to lead the dale models in LOTR battles with better theme this way. That is a start at least. |

There's all of the characters from the various games and non-canon creations (Berethor and his gang, the War in the North crew, the guy from Shadows of Mordor). The Blue Wizards (you could use Gandalf the White, Sharkey or the old Radagast). There's also Elfhelm, one of the leaders of the Riders of Rohan. Helm Hammerhand (why not, they did do Eorl the Young, after all). Isildur's brothers, who I can't remember the name of. Grimbeorn and the Beornings (the descendants of Beorn). |

Goldman, Great. There's this guy and that guy, but what are their names and who were they attached too? What deeds did they perform? What makes them worthy of having their own character? That's what I was asking. Name,, rank and serial numbers, so to speak. |

Ahh ... From The Third Age, there's Berethor, a captain of the Citadel Guard who's the leader of the group, wields a sword and shield, was one of the four survivors of Osgiliath (alongside Faramir, Boromir and Eaoden (mentioned below)). Idrial, an elf woman who has skill at healing and magic, wields an elven blade. Elegost, a Dunedain ranger who's an archer and good at tracking. Hadhod, a dwarf who wields two-handed hammers or axes, best friends with Elegost. Morwen, a Shield Maiden of Rohan who wields dual axes. Eaoden, a Rohan Royal Guard (or Outrider, can't remember which) who wields a spear and shield. From War in the North, there's Eradan (a ranger), Farin (a dwarf) and Andriel (an elf mage). From Shadows over Mordor, there's Talion, who's a ranger partially possessed by a wraith (or something like that, the game's not out yet so I don't know for sure). He wields bow, sword, and a broken sword as a knife. |

I doubt Tolkien actually came up with those characters though Goldman25. I think they were made for the computer games. |

Ah, you wanted Tolkien-specific ones? I completely missed that bit. Yeah, they're all non-Tolkien characters. |

Since someone brought up Helm the whole Dunland v. Rohan war has a bunch of named character including Fraker a Rohan noble with a lot of ties to the Dunlandings. He tried to marry his son to Helm's oldest daughter or something and wound up getting killed by Helm. Fraker's son Wolf who started the war to get vengeance for his father and take over Rohan. He ruled as king of Rohan will Helm was besieged in the Hornburg but was killed at the end of the war outside the Golden Hall. Helm's son Hama who died at the Hornburg his death lead to Helm's own. Helm's sisters son (his name escapes me) who held Dunharrow, after the winter when Helm died he and his best men rode out to the Golden Hall and killed Wolf. He became king after the war and his death some years later started the second line of royal burial mounds. |

Helm Hamerhand did kill Fraker, and that was the start of his namesake as Hammerhand, he killed him with one punch. All to often I have seen people make profiles that give Helm a Hammer as a weapon... I would not, I would equip him with a sword like most Rohan Kings, but I would give him his Hammer Hand as a special strike weapon option. Never Forget Haldir and Rumhil's other Brother Orophin. One of my favorite lines from the Fellowship is; "Orophin has now gone in haste back to our dwellings to warn our people. None of the Orcs will ever return out of Lorien." So simply said, that all the orcs will die for entering the forest, heck yeah. I would give him similar profile to the brothers, can make either the woodelf or armor galadhrim style look/gear (or both) depending on what role you are making him for. When the Fellowship goes to Lorien they are told that a new power is now in Dol Guldor where the Enemy once inhabited yet it's power is 7 fold. That is an eyebrow raiser, who the heck is that powerful and evil at the time of the war of the ring and yet not Souron himself? Find that out and you could make a cool add to the LOTR collection. |

Was Helm Hammerhand a Dunlending then? And i think it was Khamul, and two other unnamed Nazgul who built the power of Dol Guldur for the War of The Ring. they were dispatched by Sauron in TA 2841 and remained there until they were sent to the Shire. |

Mablung - he was one of the rangers (the other was Damrod) who guarded Frodo and Sam while Faramir's rangers fought in Ithilien. |

Such lists exist, and this is one of my favourite ones: http://thainsbook.net/peopleindex.html The site provided very accurate information based on the books. Very useful for reference! |
