Or perhaps a Red-Box-Games model. For example this one: http://red-box-games.com/index.php?main ... cts_id=116
I'm sure Reaper has some nice Elves too though.
As Gildor doesn't really look like any other Elf, anything will give you quite some sculpting work. You could also start off from an old Wood Elf.

Is Gildor out of production now? I bought one last year and still need to paint him

Red box is a good link. Thanks. Reaper figures are a bit large. They are some of my favorites.

That's really quite sad. He was a wonderful model. Why does GW keep taking out good models like this? (This isn't bashing, I'm actually quite curious.)

Just not selling enough probably. It had to be. Because while I am not one to defend them, it makes sense. If they sold it often, theyd make it. Its just not worth it probably.

To be honest, I rarely heard of him before he went OOP.

I was thinking about this. Its always want what you cant get. For example, maybe people might not like the Mahud stats....I think theyre ok....but they put out of production the Mahud King on Camel....thats one of the top 25 models in the game IMO.

Idk..... maybe just people dont think they are good enough to field/dont have interest.

If I were a betting man, id wager that 75% of ppl who play this game either A-didnt know who he was or B- dont care about him as much as the others.

I own one, and Im selling it because I dont think hes worth his points and I dont care about his character.

That's actually a very good suggestion- I've spent quite a while drooling over their dwarves (that sounds SO wrong…), and have never looked at the Aelfar.

If you're set on converting Glorfy, first step is obviously to remove the little armour that is visible (chainmail on the arms), simply file it down and paint it as clothing. After that, I'd remove the left arm and re-attach/sculpt it like on the armoured version (along the edge of his cloak is probably easiest, like the unarmoured Haldir with sword figure). Then make the right hand so as if he draws his sword (which has to be added at the same time) - end result reasonably close to the actual Gildor miniature.

Irrelevant to the topic, and not an argument that holds I think - the Shade is OOP too, and it was clearly popular in game terms.

You should check out all their ranges, they have some wonderful models! ;) Some ranges might not have many interesting models to us, but all of their models are superb sculpts and casts.

To be fair, when familiar with the models in question, it is quite understandable. Doesn't sound any better because of that, but I can relate. 8)

I was in exactly your position until I found an obscure retailer with exactly one Gildor Inglorion left. Right before I found that, I found a gorgeous miniature to proxy for him. As you see, his hand is open, so you can insert a proper elven sword.

It says 30mm, but I've seen side-by-side comparison's of Tom Meier's 30mm miminiatures with LoTR, and they look good. And he's only nine bucks.

Here's the link to the Thunderbolt mountain page. http://www.thunderboltmountain.com/products/8044-wood-elf-noble-in-traveling-clothes

And here's a page if you want to see the LoTR/Thunderbolt mountain comparison for yourself
