Post subject:  Help with paint schemes for models

Hello all, I wondered if you could all help me?

I'm due a trip to Knighty's shop in Warrington to get some new paints for when I start painting some of my other armies. I wondered if you could help me identify the specific paints required for the following paint schemes and models?

High Elves - Want to go with the paint scheme of the Rivendell Knights.

Mirkwood Elves

Three Hunters Aragorn

Warriors of Erebor

Thorin Oakenshield

Eagles

Many thanks in advance!

Well, from the white dwarf I have, for Thorin it says:
jacket: Kantor blue
leather: Rhinox hide
Weapons: Ironbreaker
Boots: abbadon black
Fur: Skavenblight dinge
Skin: cadian Flashtone

I don't know about the others sorry, though I would suppose:
(Old paints)

Eagles: scorched brown, dheneb stone
Warriors of Erebor: scorched brown, dark flash, a metal colour
Wood elves: a good selection of muted greens, blues and browns (such as shadow grey, catachan green and calthan brown)
Aragorn: Dark angels green, catachan green, calthan brown

That's just a rough guess at some of the paints you might need to replicate those schemes :)

For the Three Hunters and Mirkwood Elves, I'd go with dark and drab colours. Dark greens, greys and browns. Of course, if you paint the colours by the movie for the Three Hunters, especially Gimli; he's have red.

I have not yet painted these minis myself, but that's what I'd suggest. I'm not sure what paints. I don't have a scheme, as you may have a different paint set from me (I use Reaper paints) so I can only say dark colours.

Hope this helps :-D
