Post subject:  Gluing Metal Trebuchet
The Gondor Trebuchet has to be the most hideous model I've ever glued. It seems poorly designed as a model, nothing seems to fit. I kind of wish that it was finecast so I can dip it in warm water and reform the parts.

I also can't imagine playing with this thing. There's so many glued parts I'm afraid my friends won't know which way to hold it leading to them accidentally crushing it in their hands.

Pinning is your friend with this miniature.
And don't try to glue it all at once, just do it piece by piece.

Indeed green stuff might help.
I do have the problem that my treb loses a part sometimes.
But that is easily glued.

I don't recall a problem with it. However, I built it when it was released.Ten years ago? Has the mold worn? I did not use pins.
No one in the UK ever mentions ca accelerant or clamps :? Does GW not allow you to use models that you put together with tools they don't sell :lol:
Are they even allowed to sell an ca accelerator? We will have to ask UK Fredybear.

I honestly think you have to pin this model.

It is no way going to hold otherwise and even then you need green stuff too. If you look on ebay they are nearly always in bits.

I have mine pinned and have no problems at all with them.

I use both Charlie. My personal favourite is Cyano Activator which is very reasonably priced: http://www.shop4glue.com/cyano-accelerator-activator-kicker-for-cyanoacrylate-super-ca-glue-adhesive-non-whitening-25ml-25-p.asp The clamps I just bought from a local DIY store. :)

Debonder (superglue remover) is also useful for avoiding those embarrassing trips to the hospital, having stuck a body part to something it shouldn't be attached to. 8)

Thanks for the replies guys. It's only this model that I ever had problems assembling. It leaves gaps that I will have to fill with green stuff and the pieces don't fit into the holes leaving me to cut off those insertion points. Possibly the metal did became warped somehow. I'm putting together all my siege engines only now after years of sitting on my shelf. The trebuchet is surprisingly the same size or slightly smaller than the Mordor catapult. Just finished priming my isengard ballista.

Never got into pinning. Having ti drill holes and everything, seems like too much work. But I do believe that it keeps the model secured.

Nice statue head prop Dreadknight. @Dorthonion, great pics, that's what I was hoping the size of the trebuchet would be :(

The Trebuchet and war catapult are the two things in the game that I feel need rules adjustment as they are massively powerful if they are able to hit a building and through their area effect special rule any models within 2, but are massively inaccurate and only ever able to hit a single miniature normally.

When I have used mine during the siege of Minas Tirith, I never put them on the walls but safely at least three inches behind!
