Hi all
For those of you that would like to know how to make puddles here is one method of doing so:

1. Get the base or terrain that you want to put a puddle on and mark out an area for the puddle to go in.
2. Surround tha area with sand or small peples to create a dip.
3. Paint the area the colour that you want the puddle to be (a light blue for clear or browny for muddy.)
4. Cover the area in glue (I used PVA or poly-cement) [this should make it shiny]
5. Wait for it to dry

And then you should have a pretty good puddle (hopfully!)
Why not give it a try?

Here's some examles of ones I've made

please feel free to your own ideas or methods :)

(PS have I posted this guide here before? I can't remember doing so if I have...)

Thanks for the guide. It looks simply yet effective. I would not imagine one could create this effect without "Water Effect". I will maybe try it for the base of my Treebeard.

Looks really good.
Would it be cheaper than water effects for terrain?

I tried to get on to woodland scenics site to compare prices with their water effects but for some reason it wouldn't load
I'm not sure....on a large scale it would probably be cheaper (and better (for deeper water)) to use woodland scenics stuff.

I was almost afraid to open this thread.... anyway, it looks great BUT my question would have to be, will the puddle remain looking like water long term? My fear would be that it might discolour or become cloudy over a short space of time and end up looking like a puddle of, well , not water. :(
I have used epoxy resin to make small scenic puddles in the past. One way of keeping the shiny surface could be to glue a piece of clear plastic cut to fit approximately into the shape of the puddle and then disguising the edges with more stones and vegetation.
Well done Sid for a great idea - all I am saying is, will it last a few years? Has anybody else tried this before?
