Hi guys, As with most collectors of high elves, I've got a whole pile of numenor warriors, and I wondered if any of you guys had attempted or had any ideas about somehow making these look like elves? Thanks, LordElrond |

Errr... well, you might struggle with that one, not something you should even consider unless you know you are very skilled. There is virtually nothing similar about the style of these models. If you mean the plastic ones, the first thing would be to sort out that hole, and you want some elven shields, the armour owuld need completely resculpting, as would the helmets. Welcome to the forum by the way |

This shouldn't be a problem. Don't worry about the contrasting styles. Before I begin though let me tell you that you should not hope to make them look identical to high elves. You will want to make them look like their own style or "class" of warrior. Maybe like they come from a different elven kingdom or something. First, get rid of all white tree symbols. On the chest and shield. Just shave them down and make the places look pretty with GS if need be. As for their war gear, if you can find some more elven looking shields to give them then go for it. If you can't then don't worry about it. Give them elven looking blades. We're talking curvy blades. And curvy spear tips. If you are any good at sculpting then you can just make them yourself. Oh yeah, get rid of any facial hair too. Thats the converting done. I am assuming that you aren't going to convert them that heavily. Trying to make them look too much like high elves (like shaving back their armour and sculpting elf armour, helmets blah blah blah) is probably more trouble than it's worth. The really trick in making them different is in the paint job. Paint them in a way that steers directly away from the numenor style and sits closely to that of high elves. Here's how I would do it. All metal armour areas, paint gold. For their main body armour tunic, paint it light colours (whites and greys). Maybe in the same scheme as your current elves. Remembering that you don't want it to look like numenor armour. For example, If I wanted them to fit into a galadrhim army, I would paint the tunic white, and the trimming of the tunic red. Then the armour gold. I dunno man I'm just throwing random ideas at you. |

Samoht said it all, really. Shave back the white tree, change the swords for the blades off your High Elf spearman conversions, paint closely like your High Elves, and call the Rivendell Militia. |

that's a good idea I was wondering where I'd get those blades from, as my sculpting skills are non-existent. I've never ever seen green stuff in real life. |

I think samoht gave the best advice available for converting them "out of the box." Removing the Gondor iconography and a paint job that ties them in with your existing elves is key. If you're willing to shop around and do a bit of extra converting, I'd also recommend a head swap as those Numenorean helmets are pretty iconic and very recognizable as Gondorian. If you can find some, my recommendation would be to look for ancient greek hoplite heads, as those might be a close-ish match for the appearance of the elves' helmets from the movies (narrow visor, crest on top). If you happen to be a historical gamer that collects ancient Greeks you probably already have some of these lying around, if not they may not be so easy to find (although some bitz sellers on eBay occasionally sell parts from the Wargames Factory Greek Hoplite set). Another idea would be to simply trim off the side wings and add a crest to the top. |

Have you heard of instantmold? Get some of that and use it with greenstuff or any other two part putty, brown stuff I believe is better for weapons. You could take molds from anything you wanted, and make duplicates, no sculpting required, except a little liquid greenstuff to fill in gaps. Maybe they can be grey havens elves. That would explain their nautical esq uniform. I would use plastic Galadhrim for the source of my molds. Oh, and the Galadhrim knights would be even better for that as well. There's a two handed sword in there that's perfect to replicate, among other bitz |

thanks, that instant mold stuff looks great. I might only need to get one high elf shield instead of many, and for a much cheaper price |

how many high elf shields do you think a pack of green stuff would make? |

30? Possibly more, I'd use brown stuff on the weapons though, greenstuff's edges tend to go round over time, brown has a harder edge |

If you get the instantmold and have access to helmeted elf heads, I'd urge you to make some and swap a few heads. You know I have a few of these figures in a bin. Maybe I should give this a try. |
