Post subject:  Grima symbol ideas???

anyone have any ideas for a symbol for Grima Wormtongue?? currently my uruk warriors bear the white hand of Saruman.....but, since i've considered purchasing a batch of orc warriors to further fill the ranks, i wanted to broaden my emblems.

basically i'm saying that Saruman granted Grima several companies of orcs to do with as he wills (perhaps this does go against the book and movie, but it will be great for scenarios). so the first thing Grima wants to do with his orcs is brand them with his symbol.....but right now he doesn't have any

so basically i'm looking for a symbol that could easily be recognized as Grima's, (i would prefer that the symbol be simple enough to paint on orc shields/faces/helmets/etc...)

obviously due to his name, and Gandalf telling him to, "keep his forked tongue behind his teeth." i've considered having his emblem be a 'forked tongue' (duh). but i can't seem to make it look could.... :(

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Since he was a double-crosser, how about a head with two faces (perhaps with a forked tongue coming from one of the mouths)? Or maybe half of a face done up in white?

Just some ideas...

What about a snake in the shape of an "S" for saruman with its forked tongue sticking out

He was known as Wormtongue so perhaps a worm, symbolises his sneaky personality which would be praised by the foul orc scum

How about a snakeworm, one head is the one of a worm, the other of a snake 8)

Or just a "G" Rune, for Grima, like Saruman has "S"

Yeah, it is nice, but Harad have something very similar, maybe too similar.

I'm thinking that "Wormtongue" is meant to be a honorific for Grima - or at least he would tell so to himself. Tolkien often used the word "worm" of dragons, from Old English "wyrm". Dragons were known of their masterful, outright hypnotic use of language, and Grima was a master of debate and diplomacy.

A dragon would be a fitting symbol for him. Maybe with its tongue out.

Very good idea indeed.

By the way, DMS, are "Beleriand High Elves" just Last Alliance Noldor?

A white Y symbol. Like a forked tongue, maybe with each half on top having a snake head.

White.

I like the white dragon idea. I think that's the sort of thing that Grima would choose for himself: Even though everyone who called him Wormtongue did so as a term of contempt, he'd definitely try to turn it into a term of pride.

But, I also think that Saruman would bully him into keeping it a term of scorn (he did in the book, after all). Personally, I'd go with a basic mouth outline with its tongue sticking out - and the tongue turns into a worm.
In white, obviously, so Grima could never forget to whom he was beholden.
