Hi guys,

I'm painting my WoR at the moment, and although I like the Eavy Metal scheme (though I have more varied cloaks etc) the bleached bone shield decoration just doesn't sit right with me. I haven't got the films with me so can't check it, but what are the real colours on the shields of non Royal Guard characters? Surely it would be metallic, brass or steel? The BB scheme doesn't make sense to me, and I'm trying to go for quite a realistic color pallette - even if the result looks like a lump of dirty browns and greens!

Any advice?

There aren't very many pics of the internet of shields but I say a few and they seem to be bleached bone. But you could always do a rusty aged bronze to match the RG.
The steel you suggested would probably work as well.

I think I'll go with the steel and bronze - the BB scheme is a bit of a pain to paint for something that doesn't quite aggree with me. Thanks man .
