Hi All,

I'm pretty new to the LOTR minitures world. I thought I would voice a concern I have about the Middle Earth universe. The world of Middle Earth is limited to the history that J.R.R. Tolkien has layed before us. That being said, I assume that Games Workshop will eventually exhaust all the ideas of Middle Earth. They have not gotten to this point yet, but just a thought.

I was curious to hear your opinions on what Games Workshop has not released yet and that you would like to see from Middle Earth!

Me, personally, would like to see . . .
-Grond, the battering ram of Minas Tirith.
-Ents, need some more variety, there are so many different types in the movie and they currently only have two.
-BITZ, Warhammer and 40k have dozens of bitz packs for their respective armies and terrain, but LOTR has one.

So, what would you like to see?

All troop types in plastic. Heroes and command models can remain in metal (or resin or whatever they are going to do).
A DIFFERENT plastic ent. I hat the look of the current one.
A good looking plastic Dragon. GW have yet to produce a good looking dragon model.
A second edition of War of the Ring (maybe, not sure I trust GW enough to not screw it up royally).

I'd like to see new troops for rohan and new plastic goblins.

Dunland definitely. Like you said some bitz would be nice, they had a conversion pack a while ago now and that was pretty cool.

You'd think with the amount of demand for re-released core troops GW would think it an easy option to make more money off us; especially considering it might not take a great degree of extra sculpting to make new poses of the same troop types.

Anyway, aside from new rank and files (which would be fantastic) I'd like to see plastic sets of models which currently only have (had) metal counterparts. Stuff like Knights of Dol Amroth on foot, Mordor Uruk-Hai and so on. Command sets for the Mordor Uruks and Black Numenorians are also a must, but I've mentioned that elsewhere before.

Some extra terrain would be nice too. Stuff specifically designed for LOTR; like Gondorian buildings.

Extra random stuff:

- Mordor battering ram (We have an Isengard one, but Mordor had them in the films too; Grond might be too difficult scale-wise)
- Captains for specific troops types; eg men-at-Arms of Dol Amroth, Citadel Guard, Rangers etc. These groups would've had captains just like any other troop type
- Mounted Grimbold (Unless I'm mistaken, he's only available on foot. What's with that!?)

Helmingas don't ride horses, dude, they fight in infantry shieldwalls (I believe a lot of folk from western Rohan do)

Quite right, but as a man of Rohan I'd like him to have the option. He was mounted in the films, and I'd like to recreate that.

Hmm let's see.. I'd like some new Dwarven or Goblin stuff, I like playing with those armies. Or maybe a better unit for Numenor, they were elites all after all.. or Rohan, they'll need a boost too, not that I play as much with them anymore, I still have to find a good tactic with those horses :P But I always liked them, so.. yeah.. there's my wishlist ;)

Or more bitz for the current ent  though just making one other ent will allow cross conversions of the parts of each and give more varitey

Yeah but the GW version of Grimbold is not meant to represent the version from the film, infact isn't the only time you see him right before pelennor or is he with gamling+theoden at helms deep? Besides i think it brings some variety to rohan, because of Grimbold you can ally with rohan for S4 infantry instead of cavalry, which makes them a bit more versatile.
Anyway what i would like to see is:
Ofificial ability to buy special rules for generic heroes
Plastic command boxes for each faction, which contain a; hornblower, standard bearer and captain along with the more specific generic heroes (stormcallers, shieldbearers, war priests etc etc)
Plastic hobbits
Plastic dunland
The werewolves and black hearted trees mentioned in legions of middle earth
Starter armies that cost like £30 and include a box of plastic warriors, a decent hero (eomer for rohan, boromir for gondor, saruman for isengard etc etc) and the command units like standards and hornblowers.
A "make you're own fellowship" supplement

Yeah, these would all be real good. I really do think a box of hobbits would appeal to people's sense of whimsey and sell well, although we might see an annoying number of formations of hobbit archers fielded them. :)

Off the top of my head he first appears at Dunharrow as Theoden arrives, and then again as you say at the Pelennor Fields. Both times with a horse, the second time riding one and leading a third of the Rohan army into the legions of Mordor. I think that qualifies him as someone who should have the option of being mounted.
I can't really see how a mounted version would impact negatively on any versatile use of him and his infantry. Also, as I mentioned, regardless of their primary purpose I think all Rohirrim would have been trained to fight from horseback as a start.

The more I discuss him the more I want a mounted version of him now too!

yeah i understand you necromancer but he wasn't really part of the film, i think gw are trying to represent the grimbold from unfinished tales, and even in that case his stats don't really make sense. In the films, grimbold should have been found defending theodreds body from 2 massive orcs, the grimbold in the film is not really the same as the grimbold in the book or the grimbold from gw. Nonetheless a mounted version would be nice but im not too bothered either way.
