Like many of us here on OR I need variety in my Mordor Orcs. One plastic box set is simply not enough to create a chaotic screaming horde of orcs. Has anyone found another line of orcs which mix well with the GW LOTR orcs? I've found a couple of RPG half-orcs figures that I can mix with the Mordor orcs. Has anyone else had more success?

Nope, there are none, not what I've found anyway. If Wargames factory ever release their orcs they look like they could be a good match.

I met this guy at Historicon. He seems like a nice guy. Very small business use pay pal.

They fit well with the old citadel imports. I am using some for goblin town.

Note* they are small. However, orcs come in all sizes

Help orcs?! I don't want to! They're annoying, stinky meat-bags!

ANYway. I assume you're including all the appropriate hero mini's, so we'll leave that alone. If you can find them, add some of the old metals from the Fellowship rulebook. They're more expensive (which is why GW doesn't make them anymore), but they'll add a lot of variety with a comparatively small number. If I ever get to that point on my backlog, I've got a number of them for just that purpose.
Also, again if you can find them, add the Sam & Frodo in orc armor minis and treat them as orcs during play. It'll be a fun little addition to the rest.

Beyond that, the only thing I can suggest is an x-acto knife and plastiweld. There are a lot of opportunities in the plastic set for some basic conversions, imo.

I have a few of Fellowship ones, but they are difficult to find. I have the heroes (doubles even) and the command sets.

Thought of that too! LOL :P But they seemed too small.

Yeah that was the plan, but the conversion options are limited with many of the figures with integral shields.

Thanks Rob

Good point. I hadn't thought of that.

I can do a number of weapons/shield swaps. Can anyone suggest a good source of weapons and shields?

The weapons pack is nice, but I'm not too keen on the shields. Can you post a picture of the Mega Mini orcs? Their website pictures aren't so great.

I have just bought a couple of Wargames Factory Orc sprues on Ebay. They are very similar in scale to GW. I don't like the bare feet or Roman styled armor though and will alter them with putty. I picked these up just for the shear amount of weapon choices.

I only have one sample frame. If I can get some more I will use the heads and weapons on men of Gondor bodies.
You and I and about 35 people have them so far. Wargames Factory was supposed to ship the pre paid orcs yesterday.I do not think it is safe to buy anything from them direct.

I converted these the night I got the sample. When I heard what was going on at Wargames Factory I put them aside.
I have no intention of promoting anything for the new management.

 I am not sure my photos will be better. I will see what I have and make photos tonight when I get home.

Mega Miniatures

I am afraid this is a poor photo but it gives a good idea of the size of the models. That is a wip GW and a wip WF orc.

Thanks for the size comparison, but it's the faces I'm worried about. Most fantasy orcs have long jutting jaws, which don't match the LOTR orcs.

I found with the WF orcs that I had to cut a piece about 3mm from across the belly/waist, to make them the right height (in comparison with the GW Men), and get rid of the little plastic base part. After that they fit into the orcish horde OK. Or will do once I get them painted.

Most of my orcs are either old things from Ral Partha in 1979, my conversions from Airfix soldiers from the same time, or some Warhammer types that I'm gradually converting. The stupid faces don't show up once I've put a Milliput helmet on them. My intention is to have no 2 orcs the same, but then I'm only planning to have about 100.

I'm not a big fan of the GW ones, as they're a little too Mannish in proportion. I like longer arms, and less height. My biggest orc/uruk is the same height as a GW man, most are smaller.

Would you be kind enough to post a few pictures of your conversions? I'd love to see what you've done with the arifix figures.
