By which I mean, how many figures do you paint at a time? I'm normally doing around 24 at a time, so that once I get to the end of the row, the original colour is dry and I can start on the next one. Heroes can demand a more personal approach, though, but I still tend to do them when I'm doing an associated unit, e.g. Thoeden with a gang of Riders. Is there a better way to do things? |

I do the same for my easterling and WoMT, cause they have to be painted in the same way... It's strange, but I never do this with my orcs, cause I don't wan't to let them look the same. I think every orc has to be different, so when I paint them on different moments when I have different ideas, feeling etc. Makes them look unique automatiqly. About heroes, I paint ft and mtd at the same moment, I don't want them to look different! |

My thought would be on what standard you are painting to, if it's table top then big batch painting will work fine, but a higher level will require much more attention. I never paint in bigger batches than three but mine are more for display, even though they are not the best in the world. |

I tend to paint in batches of WoTR companies, and anything up to three companies at a time, often spending as long as a few weeks on them to get them up to a stabdard where I'd be happy to display them or game with them. |

I usually only paint one or two figures at a time, but then I only play small skirmish games these days and so don't go in for a lot of figures. |

Without interruptions. And no, I am not kidding. Characters - 1 at a time if there is just one figure representing that character. If you have multiple versions of the same character, for example Theoden armoured and on foot ot on horseback, then for the sake of consistency you might want to do all of them at the same time. Other minis - in batches of varying sizes, though for the sake of what pitiful sanity I may have left, I would not attempt to paint 100 of any one thing on the trot - 10 of this, 15 of that and 20 of something else maybe, just to avoid monotony. |

I paint at one go as many similar miniatures I need. By which I mean that I have a specific scenario in mind, e.g. nine dĂșnedain for the first FotR scenario, and I take that as a target. It helps to keep me motivated if I know that when I have painted this batch, I can immediately play a game with them (assuming I already have the other types of required minis painted). I try to arrange my scenario/army targets so that I won't have to paint more than ten miniatures at one time, because then I would just get bored. -- Pasi |
