So I am just reading unfinished tales and in the story of Tuor, it says ".. and able to wield arms, the axe and bow of the Grey-elves..." and I was wondering if this means a proper axe, like the kind used by Gimli. Since that seems out of keeping with Legolas who was a Grey-Elf or Sindar.

So then do elves wield axes too, cause that would be pretty sweet? :D

let me know what you think.

Well, if you really want to get technical, Legolas son of Thranduil is Nandor, a Green elf. He's not Sindar.
As to grey elves wielding axes, I don't see why not. It is worth remembering that that is a reference to the first age, when the Sindar fought in their own woods rather than in places they had moved to. Even so, I think that would be fine.

Elves with axes are no problem. I would just recommend that you use more elgant axes than the sort used by Gimli in the films. Take a look at Warhammer Online artwork for ideas of the elegant axes of High Elves (White Lion in particular) in that compared to the axes of the dwarves.

Thanks guys. And yeah i was thinking of making some first age elves. Also some stuff revolving around the Fall of Gondolin. The Warhammer Online artwork helped alot and i think as soon as a get some elves, im going to try to figure out the best way to convert them. :D

Possibly the best ways to convert them are to find similar shapes or even curved swords and glue them on (curved swords, like the Easterling falchions, can be cut off at the guard [so, just the blade] and glue next to the pole [to create a hand hole inside the blade and get a nice curve]).

White Lions and the White Lion axes from the High Elves and High Elf chariot box respectively should be good for this (althought likely FAR too large).

Alternatively, get plasticard and cut/file/sand/buffer to shape ;)

Cool, thanks for the ideas. I'll look around and see what i can find on other minis. Though making them myself sounds kinda fun. :D
