Could anyone inform me if the Wargs can be used as is without the rider?
Are they sculpted to be without rider and not look awkward with some depth where the rider should be?

I want some unmounted wargs and plastic is always more appealing than having a bunch of metal models.

Yes, the wargs come with a slot for the rider, and a slot-cover for modeling them without a rider. You can leave both the slot-cover and rider unglued if you like, but personally I like separate glued models, it looks better. If you glue on the slot-cover, be sure to use some greenstuff or other modeling putty to fill in the gaps.
