I looked for a topic on this but to my surprise I couldn't find one. So I'm making one.
I seen a few things on this site about magnets and making arms, weapons etc interchangeable. There seem to be these "rear earth magnets" that people use, which come in a variety of sizes.
So I have looked around New Zealand and found a few places that have these. I have found two different names for these Rare earth and Neodymium are these the same thing?
They also sound quite dangerous if swallowed and if a small bit chips of the magnet.
So I am making up my first Fell beast. I want to be able to swap the witch king and regular Nazgul around and also the armored head and regular head for maximum customization.
So I get the idea that you drill a hole for your magnet on each piece make sure get the poles rights then glue them in and your done.
Now a few questions:
Is super glue a good glue to use? Could the magnets be strong enough to rip the magnet out from the glue? or the impact of the magnet force the magnet to fall fall out.
Can you use the magnets with out drilling a hole first so it just has one face with glue holding it? for example on a pole arm being able to change the head of the weapon (of course you will need a tiny magnet for this).
Will the arm or whatever you are are using, sit in place with
one magnet? will the arm turn too easily do I need to cut groves to make the arm sit in one position? or use two magnets?
Is the danger with these a real problem, has anyone had close calls or accidents?
What size do people get? I am thinking of a 2mm x 1mm seems small enough for a lot of uses. or do I want a few different sizes?
Some pictures would be nice to support you answers.
Thanks in advance.
