Hi all Iwould like some advice on how to make my bases more interesting.

My bases are already GW sand painted with rinox hide and some army painter winter tufts

To begin,

You could start with drybrushing the sand with lighter brown to let it pop up.
You can also add small or large rocks, branches, flowers or snow(as you allready got winter tufts)

I was going to post some ideas , but the above guide really is so good. plenty of info which can be found elsewhere , but presents it in a consise manner , giving you plenty of ideas (really wish I had found it earlier whould saved a lot of trial and error ). . I prob would never give the time and care that the creater has , but def will steal some of them to add to my tool kit.

What I will say is -
1)you can add alot without a lot of work making you models stand out. I used to be happy with pva sand, wash and quick dry brush. but adding matrial is so much cooler.
2) experiment both to practice methods and to try out new ideas and materials. for example I don't use PVC for static grass prefering superglue( a drop of glue,static grass applied by tweezers and a quick blow) . Not all superglues work the same , with different drying times and went through multpile brands before finding one that worked for me.
3) I do use woodland scenics , but ebay can provide more choise and more economic options, partic items aimed at model railway people .
4) One of the problems with buying premade tufts of static grass, is that they can appear too uniform, which is why I like the army painter tufts ( MiniNatur / Silflor are also good but army painter is alot easier to get hold of) , being non uniform and more random in appearance .
