Hey all, I've been thinking that with this latest price hike (and considering that the "official" Dunlendings don't look like they'll be getting made for some time) I'm in the market for some miniatures from other ranges.

So, what fits well with the LotR range? I know Wargames Factory had some good stuff, but they're closed down now. Obviously other historical minis companies are out there, so what are the community's experiences like? I'm primarily looking for plastics that could be used as Rohirrim/ Dunlendings/ Barbarians of Carn-Dum, but some different Elves or Dwarves that would help flesh out my armies would be nice.

Thanks in advance for your help.

It says that there models are 25mm just like lotr. So the scale fits, but most of the models look cartoonish (oversized heads and unproportional limbs) while others look alright. The Wizards look like nice sculpts, some of the elves look nice but some could be too skinny with long faces. Maybe they could be used for a new elven faction like Lindon. They also have barbarians which look good. I don't recommend the orcs, they don't fit the lotr scene. And the dwarves look questionable to be lotr, they even have samurai dwarves, lol.

Those look awesome, thanks guys! I think I'll definitely be using the Gripping Beast minis, as well as some Wargames Factory ones if I can find them, as alternate Dunlendings and Rohirrim. I tell ya, having painted about 100 Rohirrim on foot and 20-30 Riders, you get bored of the same 12 poses...

Those Old Glory ones look cool, but perhaps more as Heroes, etc.
