Well I would like any ideas about the paint schemes for rangers of middle earth.

I was thinking more of a green, brown mix with a touch of grey.
My second paint scheme I was thinking either a dark colour kind of like the night stalker paint scheme on the GW website or an autum kind of paint scheme, or all 3!

My other question regarding rangers is are you able to use RoME as rangers of the north or grey company or any of the other ranger stats?

Thanks guys

I always like using greys in amongst browns and greens as they give a dusty appearance if done right. Add a touch of a dark grey to the basecoat and use a very light grey for the highlighting will help create the look.
For some examples if you check around pages 3-4 of my WIP you will see some of my dead Rohirrim with cloaks done in this fashion.
So it would be the green brown with a touch of grey for myself.

Thanks alot, ill try out 1-2 figures to see how it goes.

When you say add a touch of grey to the basecoat do you mean literaly add in grey to the basecoat paint or just paint certain bits of the ranger with grey clothing?

Only if your opponent lets you; you won't be able to field RoME as Rangers of the North, Dunedaun, or the Grey Company at tournaments.

I tend to add something like Codex Grey to Catachan Green and Scorched Brown to base, then you add progressively more Fortress Grey for the highlights.
Keep the paints thin and only have enough on your brush so that it almost dries as you finish the stroke. This will help in making smoother blending, but is time consuming. So it's up to you and what standard you are aiming for.

any ideas on the colours I should use for the main waist coat/shirt.
I painted the ranger cloak dark angels green.
The skirt scorched brown
the little studded upper arm bit grey.

I will paint all the straps likley scorched brown, what should I paint the main coat/shirt?

If you paint the coat dark angels green and brybrush with Codex Grey it will give it a cracked leather look. If you like that then change the cloak to a scorched brown catachan brown mix and highlight using fortress grey.

Ok I think I found a scheme I like.

The cloak is dark angels green
The skirt is scorched brown
The tunic and little bit that hangs down with the skirt I painted adeptus battlegrey. I highlight the edges with a mix of white and the adeptus. Then respectivley highlight the rest of the model with their color.
The face I havn't painted but thats really a no brainer.
