Can anyone point me in the direction of a good shield design for orcs of Minas Morgul? The 'moon disfigured by a death's head' thing can be tricky, if you want it to look good, and my versions are OK but not quite orkish enough.

'Cos the scenes are in Cirith Ungol, and the Morgul banner is only in shot for about 0.5 seconds, and I don't like it anyway, and the films aren't the only sources I like to use, and and and....

But what about the scene where all the orcs march out of Minas Morgul, or even the Osgiliath ambush and the battle for Pelennor fields? I'm certain there are many inspirational scenes



...or am I confusing Minas Morgul and Cirith Ungol?

What I've done for minas Morgul Shields, is to use the crescent shield from the Warg riders, and use rotting flesh to paint on an adaptation of one of the skeletal faces on the GW orc banner, therefore getting a crecsent moon disfigured with a ghastly face of death.

I think that giving all your orcs a red eye on their shield is quite... 'Mordoristic'.
But if you want something else you could take a look at the source- or RotK book, there a lot of banners in there. Use the same symbols then, but more symplistic.
Oh yes, use white! Verrrry nice and contrasting with your dark orcs. Otherwise red looks good to.

the mordor sourcebook covers this and cirith ungol black gate and all mordor forces although the minas morgul are the better ones

I've decided to go with a range of these; some with the white skull on a crescent moon, some with the skull on a crescent-shaped shield, some with a black skull on a light-blue round shield, some just plain black.

I figured that if every company was slightly different, it might make it more interesting.
