Of the seven Palantíri brought to Middle-earth by Elendil three had been lost by the time of the War of the Ring. Of the remaining four, who had possession of them or where were they located?

One of the palantir was kept by elves from Elostirion and was later sailed to the undying lands,another one was in the service of Sauron at minas morgul but no one know what happened to it,the other two stones were in Orthanc under Saruman control and the other was at Minas Tirith.

(how we write them in belgium)
Studied these names when I was 8years old and red the hobbit!

It'd be rather strange if they changed the names in each language.xD And BTW, Oakenshield in Belgium (or at least Flanders) is translated into Eikenschild, so that's not how we write them in dutch.;)

It was supposed to be another story about Bilbo, going on an adventure with a couple of hobbits.
from there on tolkien just made the story up and in the end it became the lord of the rings.
So it was supposed to be a sequel and it became the story that made tolkien famous.
What changed the plan? the comments of his publisher's son and Tolkien wanted to write more silmarilion style.(big battles, sauron etc)
