LOL DRUM! That is too good!!!

You know when I saw the big hill there with the "Party Tree" in the opening ceremonies I automatically thought of Hobbiton. Now you've just posted it!

I thought of Hobbiton too :) I was actually jokingly thinking, "Are Hobbits going to pop out of that hill or something?"

Well, those pictures have certainly made my day. Wonderful stuff :)

As for the Olympics itself, I'm in the 'bah, humbug!' camp. Could rant on and on, but I'll spare you all the misery. In short, what these athletes can achieve is incredible (the non cheating ones anyway...), and is something to be praised, but the greed of sponsors, corporations and government undermines and ruins it all.

The London Underground is going to be stretched past breaking point - again, it was already bad before the Games.

Actually, London is almost empty. I was out on the weekend and comparing to an average weekend the streets were empty. Every day when I go to work the tube and trains have far less traffic than ever before. A great jazz club which I visit regularly and is always packed on weekends last saturday had about 5 tables taken and was otherwise dead. A lot of Londoners took holidays and went out of the city for the olympics, so transport is completely unaffected - in fact, it has never been so easy to get a seat at peak time! (and yet the pathetic public transport workers demanded higher pay at the olympics... somehow office or shop workers don't!).

Lol :-D Went on this dramatic defensive rant against satire. Love fake news, The Onion has had some good articles about the Olympics.

I've enjoyed the events immensely so far, hyped that track and field is starting.

Based on the photographic evidence, we can reveal that Sauron has returned.

He calls himself Boris Johnson.

I think the best of the games is the Runner that is an amputee, as that shows the true dreams and hopes that we want in the Olympic games. Gives people the chance to dream.

Oh I agree, that guy is awesome. But its a shame that a couple of the other athletes are apparently complaining about him, saying he shouldn't be competing because he has an unfair advantage or something.

Screw that...take the challenge and see who is the best. As for the idea that he has an unfair advantage, that is ridiculous ~Brian

Yeah, its him who's at a disadvantage. He's got no no lower legs, only his thighs so its his upper leg muscles that have to do all the work. That, and the fact that he has no ankles make it harder for him to get a good start in a race. Everyone else have the advantage of those few extra muscles to give them a boost as they push off, and their ankles give them flexibility in their legs. He only has inflexible blades for lower legs.

I saw him today and he was a lot slower than everone else, coming last.

I reckon its a good precedent allowing him to compete, because it opens the non-para Olympics up to a lot of people, particularly injured former soldiers.

Good that the Canadian Women's soccer team got their bronze after that tragedy of a semi-final with the U.S. and their 12 player on the field. Now hoping the Canadian Warner stays in third at the end of the Decathalon.
