Hey guys, another video game thread from me :D

This time about the newly confirmed sequel to my favorite game of all time, Batman: Arkham Asylum.

If you haven't played this game before, get it. Not as a rental, as in buy it. If you won't listen to me, listen to critics--the worst of which gave it a 9/10. It won several Game of the Year awards and loads of other stuff.

Basically this game was perfect. Decent storyline, excellent graphics, pretty good stealth fighting (although incorporation of free-climbing and hiding in the shadows would have improved it) and the best hand-to-hand combat system I've ever seen in any of the dozens of action games I've played.

Anyone interested, here's a video with some of the hand-to-hand combat:

The sequel's been confirmed for a while, unfortunately with nothing but a very dissapointing trailer. Recently we got the confirmed title (Batman: Arkham City), and loads of awesome news on what's been changed in the game, in addition to the storyline.

So here's what I've found, for those who're interested:

This is nice. Batman's chokehold is badass, and I'm looking forward to interrogating thugs (a confirmed new feature.) I briefly played Splinter Cell conviction and although I didn't end up getting the game, smashing a dude's face into a mirror or through a urinal was cool in a sick sort of way. The other pics aren't too interesting except for the one above the gun-armed thug. It encourages me b/c it appears to be from Batman's point of view a fair way above the ground. One of my qualms about the first game was the cramped spaces, even when grappling around in the ceiling. Looks like that'll be fixed in the new game, since you're among the scyscrapers. Bigger spaces is also quite awesome.

Gliding pic is nothing special. Second one however once again shows that they're making the new game MUCH more open. Third pic is cool, shows a new feature--tightrope walking.

Not much to say here, other than Selina Kyle is looking very hot.

This is pretty sweet. I like that the new look of the thugs. TBH I found the thugs in the first game, big and buffed as they were, not the least bit intimidating. These new designs are sweet. The divebomb pic also looks cool.

Hell yeah! Can't wait for a brutal close-quarters brawl in a back alley.

Liking the dual counter. Although it does seem to lack power...of course there'll be a huge variety as in the first game, so not a real issue.

New variations of silent takedown is nice. As I do both Jieu-Jitsu and Tae Kwon Do I like moves I can recognize, the leg choke demonstrated here looks sweet.

Back-alley brawl...nice. Liking that the thugs use a bigger variety of weapons now--take notice of broken beer bottle wielded by one thug and the shield being used by another. Two-face's design is OK, though I was hoping for something more Dark Knight-ish.

Hostages is a cool idea, just adds more depth to the game. Once again, Catwoman is looking very hot :D

Line launcher pic--nothing new. New detective mode looks cool, I didn't really like it in the first game.

Discuss this game! And get the first one if you haven't already! I for one am about to put myself in a self-induced coma until fall 2011.....
