There appears to be an eerily coloured dwarf warrior at 1min 32 second in the following sequence: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zpc1g0Le1Z4#t=211 He also seems to have spiders webs on him, could he be an undead or phantom dwarf? |

I hope not, since the necromancer isn't realy a necromancer is he ? But I do seem to see that it is not just one green armoured dwarf but a line of them. Maybe it is a way to visualy see a difference between some dwarfs when wearing armour.. or it represents a special metal.. ?? It looks to be erebor armour, the iron hills armour looks somewhat ridiculous to me.. I did not see thranduil in armour before, it looks very good in my opinion. I am tempted to give the old thranduil a colourcheme matching the movie one. |

Hi there Jelier, The Necromancer is a Necromancer, having an undead spirit (the Witch King) guarding Dol Guldur. Notably the green of the armour is identical to that of the army of the dead and the dead marsh spectres, also I am suspicious that dwarves do not generally go around covered in cob webs, perhaps this is something to do with the cut Mirkwood scenes, or more likely at Dol Guldur involving the captivity of Thrain? |

Could be an bronze statue that has aged and turned green. Doesn't have to be dead. though it would not surprise me if Mr. Frighteners put ghosts in his film. He likes that sort of thing. Don't forget, many many many things that Peter filmed and put in trailers were chaged in the computer room. Thandruil could be fighting anyone once the cgi is done over. |

I think we all need to relax a little, it's just a suit of dwarf armour with some funky light on it, it's covered in cobwebs because it's been sitting in Erebor all this time. I'd guess this will be where Thorin & Co visit the armoury to get all their armour and weapons they wear during the BOFA. PJ will change a lot for better or worse (better IMO) but I don't think we need to worry about zombie dwarves just yet... |

Interesting and yet very credible explanation! |

Also have to remember that they over-colour everything because of the way it was filmed. For example Mirkwood in the production diaries is some sort of rainbow forest... So the bright green dwarf armour will appear more dull and more weathered. |

Hi Dezartfox, I'm sorry mate, but there is no way bright green is going to look like gun metal on screen, they simply don't manufacture costumes in 1 colour and then spend time, effort and money changing the colours after filming. I do agree that filters can be applied and lighting has an effect, but this colour is far too different from the other production shots where the armour looks normal. My thinking is very much along the lines suggested by Dr Grant, that they are oxidised and covered in spiders webs somewhere in the mountain. |

I could definitely buy into the Undead Dwarf hypothesis. Rusted, stylistic statue also seems plausible. Maybe the armor is green due to some sort of green screen effect--like, they had to paint it green because they intend to add some major effect to the armor in post-production. That doesn't explain the cobwebs though. |

Watch the production diaries, everything is more brightly coloured on purpose becuase of the way it's filmed. Yes it'll look like oxidised metal when it's on screen |
